Is there never seen before photos coming with it??? Or is that coming with PR ? Don't really "collect" . I need to get the photos and music some kind of way
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

What's the point of buying a CD full of songs I already have? I don't even have Ultimate Prince or Very Best. I only bought The Hits because it had Peach, Power Fantastic and Pope and some b-sides that I didn't have on it. € 20 is too much for a good quality version of Moonbeam Levels. And with Kate Bush, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones all coming up with new albums (live albums in Kate's and Bobs case) that are far more interesting... No, I'll pass.

Hell yeah, probably won't play it much though.

.

Principle of it, is it is a cash in... completely.

But the aesethics of collecting Prince, demand it's acquisition in my life, and I can compare the version of Moonbeam Levels to my boot versions of it.

.

Then again I am such a mugu, I have bought all the Michael Jackson estate releases as well, including the Off the Wall documentary earlier this year.

.

Really waiting for Purple Rain deluxe, and hopefully Sign o the Times deluxe and Parade Deluxe.

Yes. Already ordered from Amazon.

On a side note, sometimes I find ironic how things are changed in the years.....

To read sentences like "€ 20 are too much for a good quality version of Moonbeam Levels" sound really strange when back in the days before internet any P follower would have pay a lot more just to have an obscure non album track or some bad remix.

Yes I know.... "That was then, this is now!".... but I miss that times when every P invention was a treasure to carefully hunt and not simply a button to press to download.

Just my feelings. No one to feel offended, I hope.

Yes! I think it's a good compilation, though I seem to be in a pretty small minority with that opinion, unfortunately. Plus, "Moonbeam Levels"!

Yes!

  • I'm a completist so I find it hard to resist any official release (unless they're particualrly shoddy).
  • I'm interested in getting some of the 7inch edits in CD-quality.
  • I want to support these official releases to increase the possibility of getting more specialist vault releases in the future.
  • It's only £12.99 on UK Amazon which is pretty reasonable IMHO.

I'm curious also and the release date is December 2. That's pretty weird being that the "unedited" one comes out a week before

And its 4 dollars more and product details mentions 1 disc..

According to dr. Funkenberry its probably the 'clean' version with for example Sexy MF with the scream instead of the lyrics.

No, I'll download it illegally. I will digitally purchase any proper vault release to support such initiatives, but remasters or compilations without significant additionnal content, no.

Looks like a "Clean" version?

The one i pre-ordered has a Parental Advisory label on it.

So, that would be a yes for me, staying on topic.

Prost!

Undecided. its like paying 16.99 for "Moonbeam Levels on CD. Each album should be remastered and released. We've had a hits collection already and speaking as a fan most continued to buy Prince/symbol albums regardless if it had a hit single from Prince.

Absolutely. I will buy for ML, to support his legacy, and to add to my collection. If his fans doesn't buy the releases, what will motivate them to keep releasing? They'll start to think he doesn't have a strong enough market for releases.

Yes but with mixed feelings. I am buying it for Prince, but I feel WB are just playing on my emotions. I didn't buy the other WB hits apart from the Hits/B-sdies which Prince endorserd.

It sounds stupid, but emotinally, I need to buy it, but I am not particularly feeling it. I would far prefer to put my money in a post WB best off.

I pre-ordered it. 40 songs for 16.99 is not a bad deal.

But only one "new" song. And 17 dollars is a lot for just one "new" old song.

I'll buy it in a couple of years when it's reduced.

The only Prince release I never purchased is The Very Best Of Prince - for the same reason many here are giving for not intending to purchase 4ever. There truly was nothing on The Very Best Of for someone who was a hardcore fan. Nothing new musically and some halfass packaging.
.
With 4ever, I find some of the single edits interesting and Of course Moonbeam Levels, and photography that hasn't made the rounds a million times. It's the first posthumous release that we know Prince sanctioned and cooperated with years ago. It's part of the new WB deal in 2014 that has everyone on this site thinking IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING in terms of a path for remasters. So, I'm disappointed that there's not more than one previously unreleased track on 4ever, but it's the first time Prince made a vault track available in more than a decade.
.
For those reasons, I preordered from Amazom and will have it on release day.
