For people who are married

...how many of you actually played "Forever in My Life" at your wedding...? smile

This question just popped into my head today, I'd like to know...

My son just recently got married and I suggested the song for them, but they didnt use it. My husbsnd isn't a Prince fan so we didn't use it either sad I also think "With You" is another perfect song for a wedding ceremony, but ive personally never heard it at any I've been to. My son did have the DJ play Purple Rain for our mother-son dance which I thought was sweet of him. ❤

Well JFK Jr did, which is still amazing to me. You always hear celebrities being "fans" of this or that, and "OMG I love _______", but when someone so random picks a song like that, which is buried on the album, and mainstream never really paid attention to, it's pretty cool.

When I was in denial and thinking I'd marry a woman, I always thought she would come down the aisle to "Venus De Milo", or it'd be a prelude to the ceremony, or something. (Of course I also thought I would sing "My Kinda Girl" to her, too.) I still want a Prince song at my big fat gay wedding when it happens, but I'm not sure which one yet.

I'm surprised we've never seen a wedding video where a couple has acted out the wrecka stow scene, then broke into "Girls and Boys" as a dance for everyone to join in on. That'd be a scream!

Wait - now I have an idea...

"Adore" was our first dance. At the time, my husband was the bigger Prince fan and that was his request. smile

"Forever in My Life" was in the mix at our reception, and it's one of the songs on the party-favor mix CD we made.

in 2002, I walked down the aisle to the waiting Minister ( outdoors under a large tree! ) to Sexy MF clean version ! & then my wife walked down by herself to "She gave her angels". Best day of our lives, of course only matched by the births of our beautiful children!!

We had been together for 15 years , finally decided to get married as we wanted kids & we both have been huge Prince fans our whole relationship.

Adore is fantastic but I think Lenny Williams' Cause I Love You is the greatest love song ever. If I ever get married, that's the song I'd want. Either that or Earth Wind and Fire's Loves Holiday

My wife and I each had a short poem read during our ceremony; I used some of the lyrics from "Adore" for mine (not ALL of the lyrics were appropriate ha ha!). We also gave out a mix CD as a welcome gift to attendees and "Forver In My Life" was on that. And of course there were several P tunes during the reception.

Thanks! After that, I am sure there was at least one other Prince song, but our DJ was a friend of ours whose record collection was primarily old school funk & soul. He told us later that the staff at the venue was all like "OMG THIS IS THE BEST WEDDING MUSIC EVER", which he didn't understand until much later.

lol I'd have loved to have seen the faces of the new in-laws

.

We had P's version of Betcha By Golly Wow played while the register was getting signed. To everyone's surprise it was not my choice either, it's one of the rare Prince songs my wife likes.

My buddy quoted Christopher Tracy's poetry for his vows...

.

But as for me, we didn't even get out of the limo when we got married. No music! (Unless the driver was listening to something.)
