Who is Reign Love Nelson?

I stumbled across a Paisley Park records twitter account (https://twitter.com/PaisleyParkRP). It was using the official Paisley Park logo so it made me curious. Turns out it's not an official account and is owned by someone allegedly named Reign Love Nelson. Pulling up her blog (http://reignlovenelson.blogspot.com) she claims she is Prince and Mayte's daughter. She also claims she's written hit songs for all sorts of artists, played rhythm guitar in 3rdEye Girl and relaunched Paisley Park records this summer with a concert and party at Paisley Park. WTF?!? :wacky:

That's a picure of Amanda Stenberg, the young actress in The Hunger Games. I think someone is just using her photo since I doubt she'd pretend to be Prince's kid.

Apparently it's a faked account using an actress' photos from the internet. Here's the discussion from an org thread http://prince.org/msg/7/4...&pg=3:

Interesting...

Here are the court documents

http://www.mncourts.gov/m...tion_1.pdf

There's this wackadoo claiming to be his daughter, Reign Love Nelson. Shaking my head, seriously, this is complete nonsense. She claims to be the twin of Ahmir Gregory.

http://reignlovenelson.blogspot.com/2016/05/birth-name-reign-love-nelson-born.html

The young woman in those photos is the actress Amandla Stenberg. Kinda creepy that someone created this fake page and used her photos to do so. eek

It's a role play account. I've come across a few on social media sites, mainly Twitter and Instagram. They're usually not serious--more like a game of pretend--and they'll use actors' and actress' faces for their characters' appearances. They'll make up scenarios in their heads and interact with each other. They're generally harmless. I've gotten used to seeing them around and don't pay them much mind.

Um, ok, but this is her twitter account. I don't care that it has RP at the end of it. Surely it could be taken down for using the official PP logo? She doesn't have rights to use it.

Now, that you mention it, you've got to be right about the "Reign Love Nelson" accounts. This reminded me of when, a while back, I was idly looking up information on whatever happened to the actor Jan Michael Vincent and I came across what I thought was his Twitter account. After reading through it, I realized it was a fake "wise guy" account established for mockery and cheap laughs. Too bad some of the posts from readers seemed to think it was real. It has phony posts from "Vincent"like these: rolleyes

  1. Jan Michael Vincent Retweeted Gatsby John Smith

I'm a fucking Legend! Line up to give me money!!!!!!

    Jan Michael Vincent added,

  2. Jan Michael Vincent Retweeted tyhyyu

    Fuck Off

    Jan Michael Vincent added,

  3. I'm a force of nature.

  4. Passed out doing Mach 1 in Airwolf last night. I think I put a fucking hole in a mountain.

Not necessarily. They aren't making money off of the account, or selling illegitimate merchandise with the logo. I wouldn't get too worked up over it.

As I understand it, it was part of a creative writing project. Imagine the person you would want to be. Rather like Tom Cruise in Cocktail writing his own obituary. Just some fiction.

Tom Cruise and Elisabeth Shue were great in 'Cocktail'! I just wish Shue, who was in her prime, had show some more skin (the movie is rated R, after all - and I know I was expecting a whole lot more from the waterfall scene). But hell, I was 13 and just happy to be even watching an R-rated movie in the theaters!

.

GREAT soundtrack, too! Especially Ry Cooder's "All Shook Up"!

I think the paps are looking 4 anything that they can find on prince. They cant believe this man doesn't have 15 kids somewhere cool Just cause someone is light brown doesn't make them a sibling sad So we had a #70's fashion show and did a lenny,a john travolta, and prince. My little one dressed up as prince in pr we searched for a bodyguard lookalike for big chick.I asked the mods what they thought of someone we found they said NO the guy didn't look like chick so we only went with prince.Next thing u know we get emails asking is there something we need to tell the world lol.And the truth will come out biggrin She looks NOTHING like prince.Only prince looks like prince end of story. But,i agree not sure how the person was able to use his pp picture.

"Delusional attention whore, seeking fame"? It's literally just a couple of friends playing pretend. They clearly state they're not the real Paisley Park, which dispells any potential 'fame' they might get from this account with only 150 followers. They haven't even posted anything since early September to boot.

Not sure why anyone is getting so nutted up over this when it's really not that deep and the account's not done anything harmful, considering how the Org has been known to do worse. confused

The Twitter account is clearly marked as RP. The website isn't, though, so even if it's a school project, they ought to make that clear. And, technically, they can't use the actor's photo without her permission, and that should be stated, too. Some actors and photographers may not care, especially since this site is not making money, but still. If it's a school project, then the teacher should inform them of these issues. In fact, I won't let my students publish something online publicly if they don't give proper credit and/or receive permission. Otherwise, they waltz into the professional world thinking you can nab anything online and not give proper credit/obtain permission and it's okay (it's not).

And, many publishers do consider content on a website to be published material, an important detail for creative writers who want to submit content to journals that they've thrown on a website.

But, I digress. I'm teaching. Blech. I am Teach49 after all. eek neutral confused lol

Oh, my bad. I didn't know it was a school project.

.

Regardless, don't you think it should be taken down? It is very misleading, as you can see.

This was on YT as well.

Someone up the thread said they understood it was a creative writing project. I just assumed that would be for school (whether for credit or not). I don't let my students post things publicly that they do not have permission to post, especially photos and such. If we're in a closed environment, like a course shell, then I will let them do it but they must give me a credits list.

That's my long way of saying that, yes, it should be taken down. All but the Twitter account that is, since it is clearly marked RP and there are hundreds of RP Twitter accounts, so I'd say that one is okay (although still likely infringement if they are not getting the actor's and photographer's permission...the photog actually owns the copyright to the photos).

But, it is a harmless thing, I'd say, for the most part.

I see. I worked on projects in school and created business plans, but we were never allowed to publish it online or anything like that. I guess things are different nowadays.

.

It could be perceived as something more, when in fact it's just a school project.

Well in that case 99% of the Org's Prince icons should be taken down too, and all the millions of Prince & co. pictures posted in threads. All the other accounts on Twitter or Facebook where people don't have themselves as their icons, but a picture of something or someone they like, like a favorite cartoon character or an actor/actress, or a musician or band, that they don't explicitly have the rights to use but that nobody really gives a rat's ass if they do because it's really not that deep.

These are just some kids, fans obviously, who are having fun of their own volition and on their own time. Simple as that. It's plainly an informal game of pretend, like you would take on the roles of cops and robbers, teachers and students, doctors and patients growing up with your neighborhood friends.

There's nothing to look further for. It's harmless. This isn't even a mole hill. No need to make a mountain out of it.
