Did buy it today. When I saw the packaging, I wanted to leave it where it was. But I finally grabbed it. Packaging is an insult IMHO. The "never seen before pictures" also an insult in some way. We know so many pictures of that session and that style too well. The booklet, track info and liner notes not quite close to anything special. Too pitty for a release like this, which is labelled to celebrate the life and art of Prince. That Hero, to me at least, should have deserved a great super-de-lux boxset, with a big book, pictures, name it. But hey, I'm still pleased...... Got an official released Moonbeam Levels now!!

Should of ordred a Jewel Case version from the Europe....I wasnt going to buy it as I hate Digipaks (Cardboard Cases)...but as i walked in to Sainsburys (UK) ...they had it in a hard plastic Jewel case so I bought it....looks far better than the flimsy Digipak.....I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE DIGIPAKS!!!....they should be illegal!!...however my friend ordered it from amazon.uk and it came in a digipak...he was fumin when he saw my jewel case...so he went to sainsburys and got one

Was the track list really approved by Prince? If so I'm surprised he let "Head" be included eek [Edited 11/29/16 0:53am]

And the unedited Sexy MF. I strongly doubt that Prince approved this particular configuration.

He probably did approve this list...back in 1993 lol.

?!? confuse

The 12" version is the same as the 7" version and can be found on The Hits / The B-Sides.

Unless of course you are talking about some unreleased extended version?
If so, I would like to know more as there is no mention of such at princevault.

it's helping to raise money to keep the doors of Paisley Park open and to contribute the close to 150,000 million dollar Estate tax. The songs are also enhanced.

Prince, 4Ever - No. 80 — Prince’s first posthumous release, the greatest-hits compilation 4Ever, debuts at No. 80 on the Billboard 200. The set marks the late icon’s (he died on April 21) 40th charting album. 4Ever sold 8,000 copies in the week ending Nov. 24, according to Nielsen Music, and earned 9,000 equivalent album units. The album was released off-cycle on Nov. 22 (instead of the normal Friday release of Nov. 18 or Nov. 25), so it arrives on the chart with only two days of sales and consumption activity.

The new 40-song set is especially notable in that it includes a previously unreleased track, “Moonbeam Levels.” The song was originally recorded in 1982 during sessions for the 1999 album.

The other 39 songs on 4Ever span 1978 to 1993 during his time with Warner Bros. Records -- from “Soft and Wet,” his first charting single, to “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1993. Of Prince’s 30 top 40-charting hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100, 24 of them are represented on the 4Ever compilation. His only top 40 hits absent from the set are “Partyman,” “The Arms of Orion” (both from the Batman soundtrack), “Money Don’t Matter 2 Night,” “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World,” “LetItGo” and “I Hate U.”

Interestingly, 4Ever sports the first appearance of Prince’s Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Batdance” on any of his hits compilations. Though he released a number of greatest-hits albums since “Batdance” led the list in 1989, the track was absent from all of those albums (including The Hits/The B-Sides, The Very Best of Prince andUltimate).

Since Prince died on April 21, his catalog of albums have sold 2.6 million in the U.S. Further, after his passing, his albums were so popular, that on the May 14-dated chart, he had a record 19 concurrently charting titles on the list.

I like Moonbeam Levels but I still have the old bootleg and I still think that one song is just not enough for me to get this "hits" collection. And all the rest are the same songs I already have and many of the songs are just the radio edits. Not full length. I'm looking foward to the Purple Rain Deluxe with the CD of unreleased songs. That will be something really special to honor Prince's talent for both the purple hippies and the curious.

Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Is there anything more annoying than fading out a song just as the guitar solo kicks in, when you know the original has plenty of time left on the clock? Or a much beloved song having the word "ass" censored while the next song is the (mercifully) uncensored version of Sexy MF?

Whoever put this collection together really didn't give much of a shit about the music.
