Prince and coming to terms

I've read post about the grief most are feeling about Prince's death I feel it too. Through the years he was known to be weirded out by the super fans the "worshipers".Through the years I've had to step back and look at myself as a fan.Even on here most are walking encyclopedias on Prince's life or would like to think so(me included)I don't think Prince wanted us to look at the man and miss the message. Not saying that is happening but does anyone think most fans claim ownership on the man who was Prince?

Some definitely do and it's unfortunate because it puts other "new" fans off which is the last thing we should want. I have to check myself occasionally when I start feeling too possessive of him, but being from MN makes me tend to be over protective of him lol

Lol yes that would be hard. Sometimes I feel the defensiveness I have when it comes to PRINCE is unwarranted because even his childhood friends did not know every aspect of his life. His soul and spirit was shared through his music

absolutely the do/did. once people attach themselves to you, and like what you do, you're almost cursed to that fate because they always want you in their image. It happens to all pop musicians after their phase of superstardom. Prince handled it pretty well, he just kept right on going even with the jackases on here who would say they didn't like his mascara, his hair, his clothes, his new albums he did what a man's suppossed to do, he kept on going. Listening to each and every voice out there would have killed that man faster than whatever killed him in april. As far as him being wierded out, I wonder how much of that is true since i'm hearing just how accessible he became in later years. No other star of his caliber let people come and trash their place, steal shit from him, see him in person, maybe talk to him. I didn't realize how accessible he was until he died and the stories came out.
