Just listened to PR tour miami show. Sheila

Band put work in and IMHO was playing better than revolution. For all the w&l talk, sheila was his peer in terms of arranging, performing etc

This show was my first concert ever.

Wish I could go back again.

Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away
and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

I agree. We spend too much time talking the Wendy and Lisa influence when sheila was right there as well. Also, she provided him with many a musician

Ad an aside, that live bird rehearsal is straight heat. As prince said this is a million dollar groove. Too bad they changed it for the record

30+ years later
Wendy Sheila Lisa have performed together (outside of Prince) and won awards together

Is this thread about appreciating the whole of the show or putting people down?

love em all I do

Sheila doesn not get a lot of love on this board as a musician or influence on Prince as much as W&L.

She was a talent scout for him, brought in the latin sound, an asset to his band and according to her own words a long time love. I mean from 77- 2012 she worked for him off and on. Bigger part of his life then people want to acknowlege

You make it sound like it's a hidden shame for fans that must be hushed up for some nefarious reason. Acknowledge, acknowledge it, acknowledge it please do!

You accuse fans here of not wanting to acknowledge a band members input, for what reason I can't imagine.

Because I can fucking read. I have been coming to board for years and Mrs. E does not get a lot of acknowledgement. In fact people on this board can be very hostile about a lot of Prince's musicians with the exception of Wendy and Lisa.

In fact this crap is talked about on other message boards. I do not know why this has happened and W&L are put on such a pedestal but it is tired and stupid.

In reality one of the most successful production duos in music was Jam and Lewis and no one on this board gives them any dap either.

IMO we all acknowledge Prince as "The Boss." Even The Revolution said that the recent First Avenue shows were difficult to rehearse and play because Prince "had trained" them in a certain way - to look for his cues as to where the music would go. I think all of his musicians were his team, and he accepted (sometimes) their input. Of everyone he played with, Jimmy, Terry and Sheila, as well as Morris and The Time, were stand-outs on their own.

that's not true, None of that is true.

But she sure is catching hell in the AArtists forum for everything she does or doesn't do.

Sheila E. has a lot of the same work ethic that Prince had. I think this is a big part of why they got along so well. Sheila E. and Prince has that "vision" of what they wanted in a live performance. They had that wonderful gift and talent. If there is anyone that can pull of an amazing show, like Prince did, it would be Sheila E., and don't forget......Morris Day & The Time!!

It seemed to me that Prince fans loves and respects Sheila E. I think Wendy and Lisa verses everyone else is a debate his hard core fans like to have amongst ourselves (I think we secretly love it, picking our favorite... and it's ok to have a favorite lol) Causual fans, most of the time don't even know of Wendy and Lisa, but they sure do remember Sheila E and how awesome she was on drums, so one could argue (don't kill me, lol) that it was Wendy and Lisa that got the short end of the stick in that regards. Sheila crossed over to the every day Prince fan, while Wendy and Lisa are more revered in the hard core base.

right, the difference with Sheila E and Wendy Lisa even Eddie M

is that Prince put her as a frontman like Morris Day

But it was still Prince that manufactured the spot for Sheila E, even though she decided to play drums behind Prince in 1987-1988 being out front center stage caught on

It's the Prince 1984-1988 connection for sure

Yes, I believe Sheila is more remembered(and crossed over to everyday Prince fans) because she was a 'frontman' like Morris Day, a lot of casual fans probably know him too, but not Jesse Johnson or Terry Lewis. None of this diminishes their skill talent charisma, just that they were not frontmen. Same with Eddie M of Steph B
