Nearly 6 months later, Prince superfans still mourning

(intro snip)

NEW YORK (AP) — Have you ever missed someone so much that even the thought of them made you burst into tears?

Now imagine that feeling drenched in purple rain.

Nearly six months after the shocking death of Prince, some superfans are still grieving hard, creating tearful memes, snapping up "I Still Miss Prince" T-shirts featuring a despondent Charlie Brown, sharing photos and seeking solace in an explosion of fresh concert videos and unreleased music on YouTube.

They see no end in sight to their sadness, especially with regular Prince developments in the news — details on the death investigation, his house being turned into a museum and Thursday's official tribute concert in his hometown of Minneapolis among them.

Maria Newport still cries regularly over the loss. She broke up with her boyfriend soon after Prince was found dead April 21. When she heard about it, "I just started wailing. Like, fetal position, in my bed."

This experience will cover courtship, sex, commitment, fetishes, loneliness, vindication, love, and hate.

I hope to make the trip to Paisley Park one day. Super to hear they added some dates for you all in the States.

Yes, his connection to his fans was very unique...like I said before, his sincerity in his art is what has so many of us still hurting bad after 6 months.

It still doesn't feel natural (even though birth & death are).

This is so true. I still can't believe it myself, even when I listen to his music I find myself crying constantly. And those quiet days are coming soon for me.

My heart has been aching ever since April. It just seems like it's not real. I wish it were a joke.

I am still in mourning. It is getting a little better for me but like most of you I have those days. I know a lot of you all have mixed feelings about Paisley Park being opened right now, and I do understand. Personally for me I feel more compelled than ever to visit even if I have to go by myself. For me I feel if I do go it would help me more in my personal mourning process. I have always wanted to go there and it's sad it took his tragic passing to push me to go. Sux. For you all out there still mourning you do what you gotta do and feel how you gotta feel - we are all in this together. Prince was (is) a special man, artist and creator and he will never ever be forgotten! heart

Sometimes I can't listen to anything...just the sounds of silence. And I don't mean Simon & Garfunkel.

I take his music in small doses. And on the bad days I do something else. At least I know his music will always be there...

Youre right I think that sometimes we forget that the music is what touched our hearts in the first place wink

Same here - I dont cry every day now like I was, but there are moments it just hits me and I find the tears falling again with a "I cant believe hes not here" going through my mind. Life changed for me that day and it has affected my outlook & realisation that we are all mortal - it is very hard to explain, but there was a change in me somehow. I think this is a loss I will never stop feeling. I listen to his music and watch his videos and enjoy them until that moment when the thought "I cant believe hes not here" flashes through my mind. I cannot listen to anyone else as they are all so pale in comparison (even though I try). There is a definate hole inside me and nobody else can fill it. I know it sounds stupid as I did not know him personally and he did not know I even existed - but you cannot change how you feel, what your head says and what your heart feels is often quite different. I still have not been able to listen to the last Atlanta shows though - but feel soon it will be time..........it is just finding the right moment to sit and listen to them in private. Sorry for the long reply guys............ neutral

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I still cry too and music does sound different but I HAVE to listen to his music, it keeps him with me. However, I avoid all tributes and videos from the past couple of years they make me breakdown.

I completely understand. I've had the same wallpaper on my laptop for 2 or 3 years and I can't see it going anywhere now.
