New Sounboard leak 3/28/85 Purple Rain Tour Worcester Centrum, Worcester, Massachusetts

A 35:44 minute segment of Prince's performance at Worcester Centrum from 3/28/85 is starting to make the rounds. Its a 128k mp3 and starts with "4 the Tears in your Eyes" and ends at "Irresistlble Bitch". This soundboard has been around for along time amongst private collectors. It's nice that everyone now has a chance to listen to the rare performance of "4 the Tears". Also of note the version of "Head" is really funny and entertaining with the story telling woven through the song. Sadly, the version of "Possessed" is missing where Prince starts telling the band to "Hit Him" 40 times then up to 60 plus times and the band simply keeps screwing up, which jokingly leads to Prince fining people on stage. Beyond that the show is pretty straight forward. Enjoy.

Very intriguing, does anybody know why the setlist for this show in particular seems to be a lot more eclectic than your average Purple Rain show, it seems like he deviates massively from the standard setlist which otherwise stayed pretty consistent night after night, wonder why for this show Prince decided to change it up so much here hmmm

He was probably bored out his knackers playing the same shit every show. I'm guessing.

Will have to take a look around for this - I don't have much live Prince but I bet that is where it's at honestly.

.

Also I wish that similar set lists each night didn't generate more profit - I wish people wanted the adventurous weird stuff they've never heard before - it's too bad.

I always say, people would hav accepted and eaten up anything they did on that tour.
He really did not have to follow a template.

I know by 1985 they also started previewing ATWIAD material: Condition fo the Heart, Raspberry Beret America

I also noticed they never did Erotic City on the tour

* Was he bored with all the previous tours where he basically had the same set lists? or did the hunger of making it prior to PR's success, make it ok.

This was the second night at the same venue...He may have changed up the setlist for those returning for night 2. I was in nosebleed seats behind the stage, but still had the best night ever. I really hope this turns up in its entirety sometime.

I was just listening to this and some other amazing live stuff, and again I have to say there is a monster live album that we have all been desperately waiting for.
So much amazing live music.
As long as there is live Prince music, Prince is alive.

This is a great show. Prince is relaxed and kicking back.

.

He comes across very engaged with the audience.

.

I hope the full show emerges as I've very much enjoyed listening to this one today.

LOL. Most of those soundboard shows from the 80's era are in mono "City Lights". Quite frankly, I would listen to them coming out of a cats ass if that was the only way. Thats how I first heard the the "Black Album". True story. Around 92, I had a real piss poor sound quality tape of the orignal NPG 12" (you with "My Tree", and Play"). It's the summer, and i'm playing it for my close friend in my car. Now the sound quality is so low and muffled, I got it EQ'd the best I could do and the volume cranked and it truly sounds like its coming out of a cats ass. So anyways, we are stopped at a red light and this car pulls up besides us and this guy asks us if that noise was coming from my car. We started laughing, to which I said "No, I think its coming from the guy next to me." It was so bad, it was in "The car next to you" quality.

I don't mind it being mono. 2-Channel mono is preferable to me than simulated stereo which some attempt with "remastering" bootlegs.

I woud, however love to hear the complete show in lossless quality. That said, I'm thankful for this as is. music

I have nothing to complain about, I just found it a funny leak in comparison to what else has dropped this year

Apparently a bootleg of the complete, stereo version of this soundboard will be release Nov 11.

And by the sounds of the snippet, lotta noise reduction applied.
