Prince's most sensitive/mature songs

I don't mean sexual ones necessarily but insightful and meaningful.

I am a huge fan of " I could never take the place of your man" and its sad and lonely undercurrent.

I also think "Love" is a song about his second wife and an interesting take on attempting to overcome the obstacles of fame/pressure to redefine your love.

"Way back home" has a vague but fascinating spirituality.

Sign of the Times seems to be about the insanity of repeating the same mistakes over and over again and mixed up priorities.

Old Friends for Sale is obvious.

Beautiful Strange is about the mystery of God.

Controversy is about the pointlessness of labels.

Another one that strikes me as profound is "There is Lonely" because of how he stated that loneliness that is the result of a bad action (Cain slaying Abel) is the worst kind of loneliness there is (presumably because it is accompanied with guilt)

WHAT DO YOU FOLKS THINK ARE SOME OF HIS MORE THOUGHTFUL (NON DIRTY BUT POSSIBLy SENSUAL) SONGS?

I like listening to "Let's go down to the Holy River" and I like his cover of "One of Us"

I like the arrangement of "acknowledge me"

I like jazz a lot, so "musicology" would be a great sogn for me to!

Another one I really like is Black Muse becuase it seems to connect his affection for Tamaris to his affection for his African American roots.

Paisley Park has a lovely euphoria and sense of forgiveness as well.

Purple Rain and Beautiful Ones are of course songs of substance and longing.

Money don't matter tonight is about balancing financial concerns with moral and spiritual ones.

Strange Relationship details how a man (in this case, Prince himself) acts cruel towards the ones he loves (even though it pains him to do so) because presumably he is too insecure not to manipulate..(hurt before you are hurt kind of thing.)

WOW! That's is a great insight coming from a totally cool fan like yourself....

Strange Relationship seems touching but if you are thinking of insightful/meaningful

I would have to "When you love somebody" is one insightful song! Love no matter what!

I always laughed at "Emancipation" becuase he expresses his freedom in a content way!

Thanks, quite interesting post, i love specially what you say about ICNTTPOYM and his sad and lonely undercurrent, i think the same about IIWYGF there are a couple of them with the same undercurrent feeling actually, Reflection seems another, very thoughtful song and introspective kind.

I would definitely nominate "I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore" in this category.
