The first segment was a mini tour of PP with Sharon and Norrine making brief comments in response to Al Roker's observations about various areas of PP including the control room, soundstage, npg room, etc. They said that he preserved everything for the purpose of using PP as a museum and left instructions.

Al also spoke with one of the curators of Prince's wardrobe who said there are 6000 pieces of clothing preserved.

Hour two was a short interview with Tyka, who said that she was very close to Prince and explained what they wanted people to remember when they visit. The part about the doves going silent touched my heart. sad

I was suprised by how much Tyka's speaking voice reminds me of Prince.

There was no mention of the city council issue.

Tyka's interview is up on the Today Show site already.

Another thing that moved me was when tyka stated that at first she was 90% disbelief and 10% maybe about his being gone. But recently that emotion or response to this death had switched and it had become even harder for her to cope. Kind of explains how aloof she seemed at times right after it happened..

This was on national TV. I'm glad they didn't mention anything about the issues with the city council. I do want to hear this jazz album he was apparently working on. Sounds like that is going to be released at some point.

I had to watch part 2 with Tyka online because they pre-empted the Today Show to tell us for the umteenth time to go buy water because of the damn hurricane.

The jazz album sounds interesting. I was touched when I saw the handwritten notes and lyrics. They said that everything is just as he left it. sad

I had to replay it I just lost it as they were showing everything as he left it....it looks like they've done a great job though and I think he always knew he'd open it as a museum - he was meticulous in saving everything - while I wish they could have waited - it does appear to be lovingly curated and thoughtfully done.

Interesting it said 'just before he passed he was working on a jazz album that will one day be released'... I wonder if that was the album Black Is The New Black MonoNeon spoke of

.

The other thing of note was the handwritten lyrics to a song called Stay Cool

first of all, all 3 sisters have tired eyes. Makes me wonder whether Prince did a little something about his eyelids. Just an observation, a thought.

Secondly, would LOVE to hear more jazzy music from Prince, without the Darth Vader voice over. There were some brilliant parts on TRC. Really do hope that comes out.

I watched both interviews and nothing new was said. Norrine and Sharon favor their father to me. All the ladies said what I thought they would saw which leads to me to ask if the interviews were taped?

This is what happened to me.

Its a natural part of the grieving process. Initially U R in shock, which explains the aloofness. Then the real grieving kicks in and its one of the hardest things in life to deal with. Of course the rest of us dont have to deal with a shitload of legal stuff, planning and criticism from millions of people at the same time when we lose a loved one. Kudos to Tyka and the rest, They're doing the best they can in a horrendous situation.

Al was there live. Looks like Tyka's interview was live too. CNN just had a blurb about PP opening for limited tours. The video they showed was from local affiliate WCCO. It looked like a bunch of media trucks were parked on Audubon road. I'm going to drive by and see if that's live or if that was old footage.

The jazz album was finished a month or two before his passing. I wonder what he was working on in the weeks before his passing. There is an old interview where he says he wonders what his last song would sound like. The interview made me feel so much love for Tyka. She was closest to him. She has stayed quiet and this whole thing is so much deeper for her. I appreciate that about her and our fam community should really embrace her.

co-sign. intercutting between the interview and prince playing did me in. it's easy to know he's gone if idon't see him. when i do see him it's tears and sadness all over again.

I think Tyka was wearing P's shirt from the Nude era. I get that. I feel 4 her, she looks nervous with all the cameras in her face etc. I would be in her position, maybe I'm projecting, but her body language says something 2 me. She does well tho. Holds it down. Hard 4 me 2 see PP as a museum in some ways, hits home. Hope not 2 many changes made.
