request to orgers. List your 30 favorite post 80's songs. [edit]

We are all fans of the Revolution. I was addressing people with a strong preference for that era. Nlow, I am addressing everyone.

My question..would you name 10 songs from later decades (post 80's).. that you love or strongly like?

1990's, 2000's, 2010's.

I am curious and i would somehow feel better knowing that P's work wasn't totally dismissed by his 80's fans after the 80's ended.

I mean this respectfully. I will happily make a list (not in any order) of my 30 favorite 80's prince songs to reciprocate..

Let's not forget that the Revolution was only 3 years. You could easily ask the same question of the band from 1979-1982. Gayle replaced by Lisa. Brownmark replaced Andre. Those are great years, and some of the music we love the most. Also, there was still SOTT, Lovesexy, & Batman rounding out the 80s. All three fan favorites. So - my point being that there's more to the 80s stuff than Revolution. Hopefully, good fans aren't dismissing of stuff past Batman. For me, I quite love the 90s era. It reflected the 80s a lot, with a newer sound.

Also, 2010-now is another decade in the making. I'm not including anything from Crystal Ball or The Vault Old Friends 4 Sale since they're older songs. I'm going to pull from 'new' albums.

1990s (in no order)

  1. Endorphinmachine
  2. Gold
  3. TMBGITW
  4. Love 2 The 9s
  5. Space
  6. Race
  7. The Exodus Has Begun
  8. Come
  9. Peach
  10. The Love We Make

And the Tony M-free prince album.

2000s (in no order) no including any internet releases; that's its own monster IMO

  1. Musicology
  2. 3121
  3. Love
  4. The One U Wanna C
  5. Pearls B4 The Swine
  6. The Dance
  7. Fury
  8. Somewhere Here On Earth
  9. No More Candy 4 U
  10. Dreamer

2010s (in no order)

  1. Laydown
  2. Future Soul Song
  3. Anotherlove
  4. Marz
  5. Way Back Home
  6. Baltimore
  7. Rock n Roll Love Affair
  8. Groovy Potential
  9. Screwdriver
  10. Big City

Okay, here is my 30 from the Eighties (pre-revolution as well)--AS Promised.

. I am going to mostly stick to released songs (I am tempted to include Strange Way) and I am leaving off Purple Rain due to being tired of the song. Plus, I know I am going to forget some.

Since you were mine

Head (however, I wish the vocals were easier to hear)

Let's work

Controversy

Electric Intercourse

How Come You don't call me anymore

Free

Automatic

Let's pretend we are married

Something in Water

Dance Music Sex romance

When Doves Cry (never ever ever get tired of this song)

Darling Nikki

Beautiful Ones

Take me with you

Paisley Park

Pop LIfe

Raspberry Beret

Anotherloverholenthehead

Sometimes it Snows in April

Kiss (used to be my all time favorite P song)

Shockadelica

Erotic City

Power Fantastic (bravo W and L for that one)

Sign of the times

The ballad of Dorothy Parker

Strange Relationship

I would never take the place of your man (these might be my favorite lyrics of his)

Positivity

Alphabet Street

Rockhard in a funky place

One to grow on--She's always in my hair (I hate the drum on that song though so I subsequently like the remakes he did better)

That is a good list. I listened to She's always in my hair during one of Jill's interviews and that was very underrated song. He took a shade at Jill but he also knew by wrote that song she actually cared about him a little too much.

Post 80's. I know that the Revolution was not a complete unit throughout the 80's. but the early 80's had Dez and Lisa, the later 80's had Leeds, Dr Fink...So just give me the post 80's era. In other words, most of his career..chronologically speaking..lol 10 songs for the 90's, 10 songs for the 2000-2009, ten songs in 2010 to death (okay you can give five here since the decade isn't over yet.)

Yes, I had gathered that bit. What confuses me is that you then go on to give all your favourite 80's songs... It's a bit late now, I'll have a think and post my answers tomorrow. There are so many I like from the post 1980's. smile

I loved Prince, Wendy & Lisa together. In fact I have a playlist devoted to songs the three of them are involved in and its proabably the most played of them all over the years. However he did just fine before and after they were together.

A few fave post-Revolution/80s songs:

Letitgo

Endorphinemachine

Billy Jack Bitch

Joint 2 Joint

The Love We Make

Gett Off

Same December
