I have to admit, this doll sort of weirded me out a bit to start with. But after watching this clip, it's kinda growing on me... in a strange way lol. It also reassured me about the non-commercial aspect of it (I originally thought Troy was trying to sell dolls). Also I like the reference to the Antoine St Exupery's book. Very impressive collection of accessories.

I liked it, it was almost like watching Prince though without his voice.

I loved it from the start and was so sad when he got the cease and desist as it is all so clever I am so happy he is back doing it again.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

This guy is insanely talented ...but there is something about that is kind of creepy about it that I can't put my finger on and I can understand why Prince would be weirded out, and not like it.

I'm amazed by it and kind of repulsed at the same time and wish I could explain why lololol

I completely agree (and reading your post made me chuckle😊)...the details of the clothing, hair, etc. are perfection, and this is amazingly artistic...and yet something about this is indeed a bit creepy.

Bit like a train crash, you have conflicted emotions - part of you wants to see the devestation but, the other part wants nothing to do with it...

I could fully imagine Prince releasing a statement in that way, it would have tied in perfectly with his surreal, abstract personality/nature. Like speaking through his bodygurads, etc.

The estate should think about this! Even cartoon ideas this would expose Prince to an entire new generation. Truly Prince - eternity

Yessss that is what I thought too! The ability to introduce a new generation to his music. This could truly expose him in a massive but very unique way. I know Troy said he didn't want to do that but man I would love at 42 years old to have one like it displayed in my living room. I'd change his clothes and hair and setting all the time LMBO!!!

I think by turning him into a doll - it reduces Prince the person to being less than human, and less than a musician and makes him more of a 'character'... ? maybe ? I dont know -

The members of KISS made actual dolls of their characters right? But they separated themselves from their characters....

Prince wasnt playing a part like that - every time period was who he was at the time...maybe thats why this is creepy and something like the KISS dolls aren't really. Hmmmm

I think this is what bothers me the most about it. It turns Prince into an object and almost an idolised statue. I totally appreciate that this artist has tried to "capture" Prince's essence and all the art and skillful work that went into it, but it still feels wrong somewhat, to me anyway. Prince's essence cannot be captured into a doll. It just can't. Prince was a free spirit and it needs to be freed not captured or vulgarised. And that voice... I tried to open my mind to it and to like it, but overall it just depresses me. Sorry Troy.

I sure was not thinking yesterday!!
Did not think about leaving Troy out of the picture. sorry...
They should employ Troy and consider the above. Many would enjoy his work.

Edited to add the cartoon animation not sure about the mass doll production

I know what you mean...I want to love it because I realize how amazing this is to be able to do all this right? But I cannnnnnn't - cuz it's weird. I love the detail of the craftsmanship and the outfits - I mean its amazing. But its weiiiirrrddddddd.

It trivializes Prince somehow - by making him into a dainty thing.

Yes, I agree totally, it's very well crafted and that I think is brilliant. My mum used to make small clowns with corks and pegs and wood filler, and all their accessories, different clothes, etc. She would probably love the LPP. But for me the fact that it is related to Prince... and he passed away. I don't know. Mind you I never really liked dolls, I had a few as a child but never played with them. Plus this one has the same transfixed expression as the Thunderbirds's characters (I never liked them either). So to mix Prince's image with them and somebody else's face (doesn't LPP also look like Troy or am I imagining it?) it's just a little too much for me. Especially at the moment because I am missing Prince a lot and this feels like some sort of joke.

I think Troy absolutely loves Prince - I dont think he means it as anything other than that....but I see Troys face more than I see Princes in it....Maybe Troy should do an exhibition of his work - stay away from t-shirts and cheap trinkets and maybe make a limited edition set - donate half the proceeds to Princes favorite charities - while I do think it's creepy - its still an incredible piece of work -

and fwiw - all great art should make you feel - he can't predict the feelings and how its received but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's insanely talented and no matter how these make me feel - they are very very good.

Yes that's clear, I was talking more about the overall effect on me rather than his original intent. And yes, still very impressive, no doubt the guy is extremely talented.
