Teen/Child Fans

Hi, are there any orgers under the age of 20? How do people of your age react to Prince? Does Prince feel fresh or oldie to you?

Hi! I'm sixteen. Most of my friends had no idea who Prince was. A few of my friends were heartbroken, but that was because their parents got them into his music. One of my guy friends said Prince's music didn't do anything for him. I remember in one of my classes, a student kept saying that Prince was gay. One of the students in my other class told us that his mom named him after Prince. Most teenagers had never heard his music, I'm guessing because of his strict copyright on his music. Almost everyone listens to Spotify now. His music really doesn't feel dated to me, but I don't listen to current music. I really hated the falsetto for a little while, but that was because I only listened to rock music. I love it now!

I'm 18, my mom and dad are very old school so I grew up with Prince but I didn't really get into him until I was 14 though. I got made fun of for liking Prince until he died then people started acting brand new :-/ anyway Prince is timeless to me

So, I've been listening to P non-stop since April 21st....literally. I haven't listened to anything else or even had the TV on. Today, my 17 yr old daughter called me (she's out with her boyfriend) and said, "mom, what's the name of that Prince song about a woman that begs". I laughed, told her Beggin' Woman Blues and told her that my "schoolin" her on good music is paying off biggrin Continuing the Legacy!!!!

im 16, ive been a prince fan since i was 13. he's built me to be who i am now and i hope when i become a musician, people can see his influence on me (even now a few people say they see him in me). my girlfriend is getting in to him through me, but a couple of our mutual friends who are younger than me (my girlfriend is two years younger) like and know of him... i thought everyone cared about the top 40 but the fact they know and love prince and david bowie... it gives me so much faith and i hope to pull them up on stage with me one day so the purple electricity can run alive all night long

Not a teenager-a mom of a teen- and I think its so amazing that you are all on the org and exploring Prince's music. I have been a fan since the early years and, as you probably already know, he has a huge catalogue of music. Take your time and listen to all the different styles. My son particularly likes the heavy guitar pieces, especially his cover of Santana's Jungle Strut. Enjoy your journey. Regardless of what your peers may think, you have discovered the most prohelific artist of our time. I only hate that you all won't get to experience him live like many of us did.
