What video or concert footage reminds you of how great Prince really was?

I know there could be many...but what is a video or concert clip that makes you marvel at Prince's talent as of late? For me it is Prince's live preformance video with Sheila E "A love Bizzare" that makes me think...man he was just the most amazing entertainer! I am so happy I got to enjoy his work throughout my life and saw him in concet multiple times (although I was only a child during the 80s so I didn't get to see this type of stuff live but thank God for video recordings!) But just wow, the energy he could create in a room was so palpable you can just imagine what it was really like to experience that in the audience. I have already accepted there will never be another musician/entertainer like Prince in my lifetime...and I am ok with that...I am so greatful his music was a part of my life and I will never forget his genius and how he added to my imagination and showed me what was possible. Love you forever Prince. heart

Luv your post, I feel the same way about Prince too. There will never be another true genius like him in my lifetime, I have accepted that too, but hope that future generations get to experience someone of his magnitude. In respect of videos, except for the quality, it's hard to choose one performance over another. To me, even the ones where I'm not that keen on the song being peformed, they all are a testament to his amazing greatness. Saying that though, I love his performance with Shiela E and and the band of the Everalasting Now on Jay Leno. That performance to me is everything and reminds me why I will miss him forever love2

for me it would have to be either the America video, Housequake live from the SOTT movie or Prince and the OG NPG on Arsenio.

There are so many vids and so much concert footage currently available that I could note here that I'd spend a significant amount of time just listing them. The Qwest Center footage of A Question of U/The One/Fallen, numerous Montreux concerts, the George Harrison tribute, the Brit Awards 2006, numerous television appearances, various concerts.....like I said, too many to name. I'm completely in awe of everything that is currently on YT and I'm enjoying as much as I can.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

Tough question. There are soooo many! But lately, his Coachella cover of Radiohead's "Creep" has been blowing me away. The guitar solo in the middle literally sends shivers up my spine. Those cars don't pass me everyday lol And then towards the end P ups the distortion levels, blurring the sound in contrast to the clearer & more plaintive tones of the middle part solo. It sounds like pain and anger, building up to defiance & triumph. The song is transformed and it's transcendent! guitar cloud9

Let me put it this way - if I were a musician with a recorded song out there, I would have been living in terror of P covering it because chances are he would have performed it better than me bawl

P.S. Various clips are availabe in youtube, I recommend the remastered one wink

This is the 2nd performance of Prince I watched after his death and I still havent recovered from it. He's playing guitar and singing with his soul. Incredible. I showed it to my father and he was blown away even thougb he was already impressed by Prince and said we'll never see someone like this again.

Has anyone checked out the most mind blowing and beautiful , I mean beautiful blues he did? You tube Prince tribute blues.. Oh my god it's Jimis red house I believe with maceo Parker. It's stunning beyond words.
Prince is at his most supreme, tears up the guitar and looks so beautiful that the Angels had to have been fainting left and right when he arrived! I can't stop watching it, he will forever go down as the best and most important guitar player ever . Watch and weep ...as that power no longer exsists as we know it.

Amazing. After P's passing I sent my Mum and bunch of P videos off YouTube (inc Red House/Purple House, among others) and this is *the* one that turned her head - she loved it and she's a non-fan.

I personally love the 'Something in the water' footage circulating from a Manchester UK 2014 show (is there better crowd response/participation? - if so please show me!) among others like the 80s footage of 'Head', 'Red House/Purple House', Montreax 'When we're dancing close and slow'... there's more but these are top of my list.

nod Our boy brought out complex & layered emotions in his cover, going several planes up and transforming it from mostly an expression of rage to an all-out anthem of redemption touched His goal, he said to (I believe) Oprah is to transcend. And that's what he did woot! clapping

So so many...

Pretty much the whole of Montreux 2009, especially Empty Room, All the Critics Love U, and Purple Rain.

Pretty much the whole of the second night of Rotterdam 2011, especially the performance of Joy in Repetition, Guitar/I Like It There...and the gracefulness with which he gets Seal the hell off his stage... smile

Motherless Child

Pretty much the whole of First Ave Benefit, especially Electric Intercourse of course smile

The Cross and Anna Stesia from Dortmund Lovesexy

Head from the Detroit birthday gig, not only because its sexy as all hell, but the comittment he pulls it off with is just breathtaking...

The acoustic set from Staples Center Musiciology...so simple, beautiful and sweet...

Not like I love my guitar....
