Lotusfllow3r Revisted (The Peach and Black Guys were right)

I have always been a fan of this album, always ranked it favorably but I didn't actually gain a full appreciation for it until last week. I had my iPod on shuffle and the song Wall of Berlin came on and the explosive drumming of that song shock me. I had to check the iPod to see what song it was because I didn't recognize it! Once I confirmed what song it was I thought "Have a really ever listened to this song?" I then proceeded to listen to the whole album and it was almost like I had never truly heard it before. As I was listening I remember the Peach and Black guys saying that this is a "headphones" album. At that time I laughed at that lunacy, now I have to say they were correct. I have to reevaluate this album. The drumming and electronic flourishes are amazing throughout. I have been sleeping on 77 Beverly Park! Why haven't I been bumping this non-stop daily?!!

this is def a headphone album. I ordered a vinyl copy and can't wait to hear it. The drums on Wall of Berlin is a perfect example of how this sounds through a good set of cans.

Wow, I'll have to revisit this album soon... I've never listened to it on headphones. Thanks.

This 3-CD set was $11.98 at Target in 2009, then price reduced to $4.99 and then again to 99¢. Where were you?!!

A lot of people stocked up at 99¢ and made a killing on eBay. Hopefully you can find one that's not too expensive.

Also, the website version (download) had an extra song The Morning After instead of Crimson And Clover.

I think LotusFlow3r the album will go down as one of his finest late-stage albums.

I had the same experience with both Lotus and MPLS...I bought them back in 2009 at Target and really slept on both albums until about 2 weeks ago! First I listened to MPLS with headphones in (after getting hooked a few weeks before that on "Better with Time" when it came up in my shuffle) and then this past weekend to Lotus... They are both really incredible albums imho that really never got their recognition.

___

I also have cued up both the Lotus and MPLS review shows from P&B to listen to after I finish their latest podcast... again thankful to Prince for so much high quality amazing music that he gave to us!

..but so is a lot on this album. I would have loved to have seen him perform Wall of Berlin ...imagine a video of them recording this ...him putting down those guitar solos....oh man.

Name someone else that can do Wall of Berlin with that kind of guitar virtuosity and then go into a track like '$'? NO one I konw of has that kind of breadth....
