Prince's involvement in Bria's "Elixer" album

I assume prince produced the elixer album but did prince write all the songs on the album? I think it was mentioned that prince produced Andy allos album and only wrote 3 of the songs .

Prince could turn 3 lines on a scrap of paper into a fully realised song. but he would for the most part give the writing credit to the singer. he did the same with chaka and numerous other artistes.

Bria's Elixer was all Prince bar vocals. i still think he had more involvment on Superconducter than he gave himself credit for

agreed.

i was listening to 'superconductor' again yesterday. he's all over that. but so is michael b,
and idah according to liner notes. so the sound is not just prince, it's prince and the band
so to speak.

i love the production on that album so much. but where bria probably had about 1% input
apart from her vocals, i think andy had more input and influence and also contributed the
lyrics to some of the songs and probably demo versions for others, that prince then helped
form more fully.

they must have had a lot of fun together in the studio (outside of it too i guess, lol) since
they created many songs at that time. the prince tracks on his own albums that she is on
are all great imo. their voices compliment eachother and the vibe of the tracks that they
inspired in each other are really great.

i like elixer too, for different reasons. because you know its ALL prince. and some of those
songs date back to 1989 or something to my ear (perhaps not, but the backing track for
"here i come" sounds so late 80s prince it's just delicious). there are many gems on it and
someday in the future perhaps we get to hear some of them with prince on vocals drool

I've always liked Bria's cd. It gets hate around here but Prince and Bria did a great job on it. Another Boy has always been my jam wink

Agree. I really like Superconductor and as you say they made some great songs and they're voices really gelled, most notably on Time which is one his best songs in recent years IMO.
.
I think she wrote most of the lyrics on Superconductor as I recall seeing her handwritten lyrics to Yellow Gold but of course there is a lot of Princely touches added.
.
I like bits of Elixer, it's smooth and laid back and even though her voice isn't great it compliments the music. I like her version of Kept Woman and Here I Come a lot.

.

CC and Joshua Dunham were the rhythm section on "All This Love," "Something U Already Know," and "Kept Woman."

.

Otherise it's Prince on all the instrumentation...

.

I think this is a very underrated album!

I consider Superconducter a complete Prince album with Andy on lead, same can be said for Tamar's album and Judith's album, I am just not sure on Liv's album. I know two tracks he is at least responsible for.

I finally listened to this cd after Prince passed and I wasn't impressed or depressed by Bria. I may have to go listen again.

I listened to this while driving one day. It was so boring, I had to switch to something else - because I was afraid I might nod off behind the wheel.

Wow Elixir is amazing, like a lot of Prince music that folks only listen to once, they come back months or years later, after more listens, to say how great it is.

Listen to this stuff more than once people, this, along with all the other posts I see with people hatin on songs only to praise them later, needs more than one listen.

Just heard this album last night. Love it. She should perform at the memorial tribute! No wonder Prince included the album as part of his own album.
