in the June 7th 1986 interview with the Electrifying Mojo Prince said he had 320 unreleased songs...so 100 in 83 is 100% doable...

Yet another contradiction of his own story!

Yes, Im agree. Magnoli is bullshittin. He even mentioned that this is where the lore of the vault began. Yeah, right.

I am not sure when the first mention of a vault was made... one early was in Jun 1986 Mojo asked Prince if he really has 500 songs in the vault and prince said it was just 320...

It's not hard to believe that by the time Prince was compiling the tracklist for Purple Rain he had a bank of 100 songs that could have been used.

.

Yet nobody's ever managed to compile such a list. Those early years are well-documented, so why don't people stop talkign about hypotheticals and look at the evidence?

-/-- We never had any evidence because none of us have been in the vault. All we really know is what is peers saw or heard.

He's repeatedly said this number, and now he has added that they listened to 20, and that 90 of those 100 are still unreleased.

Everyone in this thread cares, or rather is interested in discussing it. That IS what this forum is about - discussion of the man's music and career.

We´ve discussed this interesting question at least half a dozen times here but I still find it interesting.

I´m not sure whether Al Magnoli was just using figure of speech or if he really, literally means one hundred songs, and whether these were all unreleased songs or hundreds of songs including all the protegé bands and the Time songs.

I think he is using hyperbole again and, as much as I wish he´s really got 100 unreleased songs from the 1982-1984 era, I still think he is exaggerating a bit because I remember that Bobby Z. once told Uptown magazine that there weren´t really that many unreleased songs from the Purple Rain era and that they were so busy preparing for the film and album.

That´s why I doubt the 100 unreleased songs part, regardless of how often I hear it. It´d be very unusual if he hadn´t yet been approached by journalists or fans or bootleggers.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Yes, as evidenced by TWO replies in 36 hours.
