I love Prince!

I know that he was under a lot of pressure - his entire life!

I respect him immensely!!!

in my opinion -

Prince took things from Many Greats..

and like Michael Jackson -

He Blew it all Up Bigger than the way he originally found it!

April 21,2016 - Impossible to predict... Such a Monumental Loss..

A living nightmare.. Such A Tragedy!

Wow. Thanks so much for your honesty. I find Prince such a facinating study in Psychology. I'd love to write a book someday just on the Psychology of Prince. lol But seriously, thanks for sharing how you really felt...and also I think it was cool how you were still able to enjoy his genius/talent despite any personal feelings you had about the man.

I did meet him a few times in London in 2007 and was far from disappointed. He occasionnally had different moods but was still a true gentleman.

I need to emphasize how beautiful he was, and even more so in real, his eyes were very expressive and the way he could make you feel by just looking at you like you were the only one in a whole concert room, that was very powerful. Top this with him asking you to come onto the stage and then helping you to get there by taking your hand... Yeah that.

My only and deepest regret is that I didn't make the effort to go back and see him again when he returned to the UK, but I had become a mum the following year and I was still totally immersed in the joys of motherhood at the time. As you can imagine, these memories haven't stopped haunting me since April 21st. I miss him incredibly.

Those kind of cars certainly don't pass you every day.

Oh my...he took your hand???

I don't have words...I'm guessing his grasp was strong but gentle...What did he smell like? Was he as tiny as everyone describes?

Yes I know, I was pretty speechless myself when it happened, and yes his grasp was confident but still gentle, and I remember that his skin was very smooth and silky... I will never forget that. As for his scent, it was a very subtle one, not sure if he was wearing any perfume and I wasn't really concentrating on that too much because I was trying to avoid tripping over some cables, but in retrospect, I think it was similar to cinnamon or some sort of spicy scent, but then again it was barely noticeable. It could have very possibly been his natural scent.

If you actually had the opportunity to meet Prince when he was alive would you have taken it? Imagine if you didn't know he was going to leave us so soon. I know that sounds like an obvious question given how much we all love him but when you really think about it, what would be the benefit of meeting someone you admire? I remember in high school I did have a music teacher who was a musician and he reiterated to us that famous line about "Never meet your idols" and told us about how he declined to meet the lead singer of the Talking Heads because he loved their music so much and didn't want any potential bad interaction to cloud his love of their music.

And for all the crazy fan girls out there like me... razz ...do you think meeting him would live up to the fantasy or no? Is it better to just keep him as your dream man safe in your imagination or would you actually would have wanted to meet him and have that memory even if it potentialy would not go as you always fantasized about?

I know I dreamed of meeting him many times (and ok I had other kinda dreams about him ... wink ) but there was something kinda comforting about just watching him from afar, enjoying his music, being entertained by him and only knowing the fantasy.....sexy

Yes I definitely would have taken the chance to meet him when he was alive. I would love to have been in his presence and spoke to him if only to say hello and you are great. I would have loved to hold his attention just for a moment. I hope he would have been nice and allowed me an autograph and a pic (prob not) but if not that is just a chance I guess I would've had to take to meet the man.

As far as livng up to the fantasy most probably no. He prob would have been a busy man and been in a hurry and not had much time for me except to say hello and go his way. I would have still wanted to meet him anyway.

But like you said, it was comforting knowing he shared the world with us and we could enjoy his music.

Would have loved talking to him about his worldview, but then again I would have been rendered speechless and possibly catatonic eek in his presence lol

Maybe your time spent with him was during an especially difficult time period for him.

I'm sorry your experience wasn't as pleasant as others have had. sad

Hi KK Your question really made me think. The way you put it was deeper than the ways I've always seen it. Half of me wants always the truth, and the other half of me (right now) wants to be in my little fantasy land that has been soooo awesome 😊 Maybe the truth is just that. That Prince was very special: to me, cool, sexy, confident, handsome, talented, generous and more...but I'm thinking he probably also had his character flaws. For now, I prefer to be in my own little world at times with him. I have actually apologized to God because I have worshipped another human being before spending time with God sometimes. I have also said, "God, I am not ready to give this up yet. I'm sorry." So I am just trying to be aware that I am in an obsession right now and I see the downfalls of that but also the help I'm getting from it. I have gotten a lot of help from Prince's example on many fronts. I have regret that I didn't do one big thing in my life that could've led me to meeting someone like Prince.

I've had to do the exact same thing. sad You're not alone on feeling this way.

I find it very interesting and comforting to know that I'm not the only one struggling with this. Very confusing for me.

But to answer the question, yes. In the back of mind I always thought I would. In the past I've always been able to reach certain artists I admired and I never thought P would be any different. I just thought I had more time...

From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

Yes. Think about it everyday. Saw Mint Condition at BB Kings in NYC a few years ago and there was rumors that Prince was backstage. Was hoping he would come out during their set.

I wish I would have bent over backwards more often to see his performances at Paisley Park. I missed more than I saw and that irks me now.

I completley know what you mean! I feel the same way. I really regret that now. Although the times when I was a super fan I was either too young to go or he only did PP shows sportatically. I guess I assumed I would have many more years to enjoy him. sigh

This.^^
One year ago I attended my first event at PP. That alone was a dream come true and i was looking forward to many more of those experiences. More intimate performances yes, but not necessarily meeting him. I try to put myself in his shoes and I know I would absolutely not want to be approached by strangers, even well meaning ones, every moment of my life. So I respect his space. That being said it would have been way more cool to meet him when he wasnt "the" prince, but just another guy out and about. We'd arrive at the dry cleaners at the same time for instance and he would hold the door open for me. I'd say thank you and he would smile slightly and nod. Our eyes would meet briefly and I would return the smile. Then as I received my laundry I would turn towards him and politely wish him a nice day as I left the store. That would be enough for me and I think he would have appreciated being treated like just another guy out running mundane errands smile

Yes.

Although, I've stood inches away from some of my idols and I always 'freeze' (e.g. Wendy and Lisa, fDeluxe, Steve Parke).

After giving it some thought, I've been stuck at "how do I add value to - their - day? I'm only going to say some boring platitude they've already heard a million times?!?"

There have been moments in Prince's career where I definitely would have loved to sit with him, break bread and exchange creative ideas; If I could go into a time machine as an adult to speak with him it would be during the "Lovesexy" era. That was simply a magical time creatively and visually. It felt so sexually tantric. I went to high school/college for fashion design and always wanted to create looks for him.

I was 15 when "Lovesexy" was released and that was my very first concert. Seeing him perform had inspired a high school project: we had to create a small collection and I designed 6 outfits for him inspired by a ficticious album entitled, "Black Dionysus." He very much symbolized and embodied the frenzied ecstasy associated with Dionysus during that tour and I got an A on the project!

While I'm not religious (I consider myself a mystic/spiritual) I would have relished in discussing mysticism with him during that particular period in his life. Prince always felt like a creative "partner"to me during that period. I would have loved to given him some books/artwork as a gift.

I was also intrigued by his reference to Chakras (during the "lost" 2014 Rolling Stones interview) and a lot of the metaphysical/esoteric imagery during the "Third-Eye Girl" era (including his use of Mandalas during his Piano & Microphone tour) I'm also a vegan and would have loved to talk about agriculture, the politics of food, natural healing, etc.
