Man, how awesome would that be??

Yeah, I know Maxwell did a super Princely version of it but I really do think Prince could have MADE IT HIS OWN...

First, not everyone needs to cover that song. Second, Maxwell did his version of it, not a Princely version. Maxwell has had the longevity that he has not because he's copying Prince, but because he's being himself. His, and Hod David's aural aesthetic are totally different than Prince's production.

I saw Maxwell in June and instead of trying to sing a one of Prince's songs he played Prince's version of Kiss while the band was coming out. I thought it was a lovely and appropriate tribute.

Actually, Max did a faithful version of Kate's song.

I meant to add to my post that Maxwell actually did two versions of "This Woman's Work". One was on Unplugged, which is one of my favorite live CDs ever, and then a studio version later on Now.

I saw Maxwell two nights ago in Melbourne. Not only did they play Kiss at the begining, he also covered Adore and Do Me Baby. And it was worthy of Prince's standards. Also, Prince's image appeared on screen when Maxwell sang Woman's Work.

No one ever needs to cover that song again.

Maybe Prince's estate can construct a Michael Jackson/ Cascio situation? lol
