Tweet from Londell. Looks like setting the record straight on who owns PP. I believe the company that oversees Graceland owns 85% of it. From what I've read they're only going to be running PP museum for 4 years. Not sure if they renegotiate or what happens after that.

I have mixed emotions about this. I have been to Paisley Park over a hundred times. It's too soon in my opinion, but I understand them wanting it open for everyone coming for the tribute show. I'm glad they won't be doing tours of the upstairs. Some things should remain private. I'm glad it will be a museum though. It will be nice seeing all the instruments and clothing. I'm hoping they will still have the Yamaha purple piano right where it was before he passed. I'm just wondering if they will have the atrium as part of the tour. That is where the parties were originally in the early 90s. I wonder if the doves are still there. The elevator is there too, so that may not be a part of the tour either. I'm sure I'll be a mess, but I'm also excited too.

My guess on that would be 4 years to show them how their successful business plan at Graceland works and then once they've been taught the ropes they'll be on their own.

Some people are saying this is too soon as Graceland didn't open until 15 years after Elvis died. But in the official press release Tyka said Prince wanted to open it to the public and it was something he was actively working on. I'm guessing Elvis wasn't working on opening Graceland to the public.

I thought Graceland opened in 1982? 5 years after Elvis died......they opened it to the public because the estate was in debt due to financial mismanagment.

That we did !!!

Don't understand people saying, ".....they always wanted to go! Sooo much! For sooo long! (for like, decades), but their actions don't reflect that. At All. Actions talk, b.s. walks. You didn't want to go enough to actually get your ass there before. So, that's not much. Give it a rest.

Any one driving from South Carolina or Florida, let me know. I'm in Charleston,SC. Im close to i95 so anyone driving from FL will work also. I know it's a 20 hour drive from here. There is like Channhassen Inn by PP. prince eye yes

I'm in Spartanburg. Never considered driving there. But, I don't know yet, when I would go. I may try some time, just don't know if I'm ready.

I'm in Greenville and will definitely be going at some point just don't know when. My friend and I almost drove there back in '88 but figured the drive wasn't worth just to stand ouside of a place not sure what to expect. But I will be there one soon bittersweet day.

The Associated Press is also reporting on Paisley Park tours starting October 6th. The article states that tickets go on sale Friday, with a 70 minute tour costing $38.50, while VIP tours will be $100 or more for small groups. You have to go to www.OfficialPaisleyPark.com for tickets, since there will be no "walk-up sales" at PP.

Hey neighbor! The Upstate is representin'. lol I've flow there, but lived in Phoenix at the time, I think, or Cali. Was no way I was going to drive from there. I drive to Missouri frequently to visit with family. That is a 12.5 hour drive. But I guess if I can drive across the U.S., from SC to Cali and back again, I can drive to Minne.

It's like rummaging through a dead person's stuff, right after they died. Creepy. Too soon and just seems like they are trying to grab some cash.

Maybe because the estate needs cash? I'm sure the bills are pilling up. It's not like this ticket sales will being going into Tyka's pockets.

Quick question....Is she controlling the budget for these tours? Who is in control of the books? I thought the Graceland crash took place because of internal mismanagment. I think this happened with Dollywood too, no?

nod I'm curious to see how they coordinate the tours. Will they be daily? Certain days of the week? Ideally I'd like to do it either the day before or after the tribute. I guess we'll have to wait and see when these tix go on sale and hopefully it'll coordinate around the concert. Basically, I'm going that week either way lol Early birthday gift to myself

Says tickets go on sale this Friday at one. I'm thinking Wednesday day before the double feature UTCM/SOTT. You're flying solo too right? Imma orgnote U. wink

They aren't cashing in smh. Lots of big historic houses in England have to open to the public just to pay for their upkeep. I'd imagine the family didn't want to open this soon, but the multimillion dollar tax bill due in January has probably forced their hand.

Priscilla turned Graceland into a museum because the costs of upkeep and other expenses dwindled her and Lisa Marie's inheritance to $1M and there was a huge tax bill due. The people managing Graceland will be managing PP for 4 years. I've never been to Graceland but I've the people that run it do an excellent job so I trust they'll do right by Prince.

You should recommend it to Londell & Fam. Sometimes they don't consider these things until someone puts it in front of their nose. biggrin

They'll probably intend to have it professionally shot anyway and create a dvd? With some interviews/clips of each performer and their memory of Prince? I could definitely envision that happening. So, if already filming, the next logical step is streaming/or a broadcast

I'm not happy about this. He was such a private person and I feel like his privacy is being invaded, still, even tho he's gone. I know, and he knew this is what would eventually happen when he passed but he passed so unexpectedly so soon and I think it's just too soon to open PP up to the public.

I just woke up to these exciting news! Thanks Rogifan. Let's hope that LLC (of Graceland Holdings) keeps PP in tune with Prince's preferences and ethics anc that this will also allow for music seminars/other artistic opportunities for the youth to happen, as this was part of Prince's main focus in recent years. I am so happy that I will have the chance to visit this amazing place one day but of course have very bittersweet feelings about it.

Will be listening to the Purple One till the day I die. Will dance till I no longer can..

I hope that the exclusion of upstairs areas as part of the areas being opened up (I think I read that earlier) is some consolation to those that feel its an invasion of privacy. He did host events at PP and wanted people to come together.

.

The part I dislike most is the idea of some kind of gift shop selling low quality tatt. It just wouldn't feel right. But selling high quality memorobilia and music would be cool.

Well Prince did open Paisley Park up when he was alive so I don't think it's an invasion of his privacy.

I will be coming from London next March so hopefully will be able to get tickets for then. The last tours he had I was only 7 so I couldn't go lol

I was there for the Celebration in 2000. Seeing Prince walk through the L4OA room, hearing him clear his throat across the large concert room when a friend and I were talking with one of the guards - looking over and seeing Prince staring at the guy like, "Hey, I'm over here", seeing him watching the crowd dancing and having fun from where he sat, or at the mix board. Going there without Prince won't ever be the same. I mean, I probably will, eventually, but I think it's going to take me a while before I can ever do it. I'd be breaking down and seeing him in the places I saw him during the Celebration. I just think it would be too hard, right now, especially. Maybe when I'm older and greyer I'll make a pilgrimage there before I leave, just to remember once again....
