Prince biography book question...

I read on a forum awhile ago that Prince always wants control in his relationships and when he couldn't have it...he would be done. I also read that he bulldozed his old purple mansion, where a lot of his earlier hits were created? Prince moved out of the home and gave it to his father. When his father died, his father apparently gave the house to Prince's older sister. When a legal battle started to brew, Prince demolished the property!

Prince sold The Revolution a bill of goods. He convinced them that they'd be together, forever, like The Rolling Stones. His headgame worked, because that band would have jumped off a cliff if Prince would have asked them to.

A couple of years ago, the original members of The Time were staging a comeback, when Jesse Johnson unceremoniously pulled out of the band. At the time, I was running a news blog, so I wrote an article about what I thought went down. Someone posted the article on Jesse Johnson's Facebook page and every single commenter agreed with my assessment of the situation: Prince was the reason Jesse no longer wanted to be part of The Time.

Where can I read about some of this stuff in depth? What Prince biographies go into this stuff in depth?

I have a friend who's a huge Prince fan who can see posts here but can not respond, but asked me to say this to you:

The "purple house" was alway in Prince's name. It was never given (or deeded) to John L. Nelson. That property was in Prince's name when he died and will be sold as part of P's estate.
Prince paid for his father's full-time caretakers (the father had Alzheimers). If you read the court documents, you'll see that P's father handed that sister a check for $400K (his total net worth) shortly before he died. When John's estate was cleared, his initial net worth was only $200 due to the amount of money in that check. Later, the money was returned to John L. Nelson's estate.
That sister had been trying to keep that large amount of money, but it did not work.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

damn, tyka tried to take her old man to the cleaners? fuck. hope it's not true. she'll be taking us fans to the cleaners every chance she gets. I didn't think the purple house was destroyed was it? I thought it was the house P and Mani stayed in, it was more a job to erase the memories than a vindictive thing, if i'm reading it right.

Several real good ones, and even not so good ones that have accurate info. the 85 steven ivory bio, dave hills bio, the mediocre (to put it mildly) Possessed has many anectdotes from embittered ex-this or thats. Several others that I've seen but didn't buy, I can't even remember them all. One was called Slave To The Rhythm and there was another in the mid 90's, i can't remember which ones where I first heard about Prince od'ing in 96 and I think I read in the ronin ro book about prince 360'ing in a car and going to work like nothing happening. I forget which book states he broke Jill Jones' arm.

As far as his selling the revolution a bill of goods? who knows, we weren't there. Maybe Prince meant every word of it but they just couldn't keep their shit together, most bands breakup after a couple years anyway. Also, I think you might be wrong about Jesse J. I always thought he had a bad case of P envy and wanted to be him. Being a sideman was never enough for him. what is your take?

He had several houses. Is it true that he had the one he & mani lived in grazed to the ground and then mailed her back bits of it?

It's just hearsay - something I read here on the org.
Knowing how fast stories get twisted and added to, it could be a lie. That's why I'm asking.

/-/ Yes, I honestly think he not have a will because he knew his siblings would contest it. The state is going to take the estate and divide it evenly and their is nothing they can do it.

So in other words, the perhaps very simple explanation for Prince not having a will could be that without one, the state would have the power instead of the siblings?

If that's your thinking, how is leaving no will any different - since the siblings ended up with the power anyway? Won't they have all power eventually without the estate company/state involved
