I am sorry. I don't want to offend anyone so I changed it. Does it still offend you?

It takes a bit more than some lyrics, to gross out or offend most guys

While I wasn't offended, I did have a moment of being uncomfortable the first time I heard him proverbially slurp around a vagina in the middle of "Come". I mean, suck that clit boy, but shut the damn mic off. Don't nobody wanna hear dat shit.

Crap, forgot to put the question in there! So, now that I'm curious... what offends you about Melt With You?

I am a straight female. I was offended and grossed out by the lyrics to the song "I Want To Melt With You", but I still really like the song because of the music. I just don't know if my gay male friend will be offended by it, and my intent is to turn him on to Prince, not turn him off. I thought that some or the male orgers could help me out in this regard.

I was grossed out and offended by the following lyrics in the song "I Wanna Melt With U"

.

"Don't look now, but there's a river of blood"
"U must have been a virgin"
"What am I guilty of? Oh no (oh no)"

.

LyricWiki

.

But I really like the song alot despite these lyrics.

.

Are you a dude?

If so, do these lyrics bug you?

Do you like this song?

Nah, I'm a girl, and nope, the lyrics don't bother me at all. I actually kind of found it the tiniest bit amusing, for some reason.

And honestly, I would just grab some songs from each era for your friend -- he's either going to like Prince or he isn't. Don't overthink it; just put some of your favorites on, and some of the radio-friendly hits on.

Right? Besides which, it sounded like elder bro needed some lessons in the proper application of oral sex. When they say 'eat her out', they don't mean it LITERALLY, old son. falloff

And thiss is why I am not allowed to play with others. biggrin

Anyway, back on topic and whatnot. Did OP make that list yet? Because now I'm curious as t what she was thinking of putting n a playlist. I don't think too many f Prince's songs would be offensive to a guy.

As a straight male , none of his songs offend me. The reason i was a fan in the first place was because of him pushing boundaries with his lyrics. When i heard his second album i liked some of his songs , but when Dirty Mind came out i was eek this is going to be a interesting musical journey and i was right lol

Some stuff that didn't make me cringe when I was 27 does make me cringe now that I'm 57. Prince felt the same way. That's life.

i could see timid women being embarrassed by some of his songs, and I could also see super macho, conservative men wierded out by some of his lyrics. Personally, I don't get offended by song lyrics by anyone that I can remember.

I tried to find the correct thread but couldn't. So even though I'm a straight WOMAN, I'm going to put here the song that most offends me. I just remembered it because I never listen to it, skip it every single time. Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance> It's talking about a few things here which I guess many are in agreement with. But what stands out to me is basically it's a song about an older woman messing around with a younger man and it's viewed with disgust. From the whole there is no such thing as time therefore age is just a number mentality. Of course that's only viable when the man is older and the woman is younger then it's a beautiful thing and it's true love. Yep, it rubs me the wrong way every time.

Out of his whole catalog, the only thing that comes to mind is the end of "4 ever", but I'm not sure if my reasoning fits your question.

"I don't wanna kiss your lips, until I get 2 UHH! your hips."

All of his efforts to not curse anymore, and this line sticks out to me as either straight up vulgar, or perhaps just stupid. In his attempt to not say something more explicit, it ruins the song for me.
Keep your headphones on.

I'm a woman, all the explicit stuff is great, but I cringe at some of the rap attempts. I just wanted him to be himself always, without succumbing to the pressure of the industry & changing music landscape, but that's easy for me to say being a mere consumer (who doesn't necessarily follow the mainstream).
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I can give you cringworthy moments, the mtv interview was full of embarrassing moments for me, i thought he was just too full of himself at that stage in his career and it was embarrassing watching him mug for the camera, some parts of UTCM were dissapointing too..also, i remember seeing him at a soundcheck, through a window before a concert, he pimpwalked on the stage, for some reason, that dissapointed me. so, cringworthy and dissapointing moments? many, offensive ones? no.
