The Aloft WXYZ bar is not a good venue option for a movie. They showed SOTT projected on four small flat screens, which produced a fragmented and distorted small image,and it is in the hotel lobby. I think we want to go with a movie theater for this.

Would love to see UTCM and SOTT with Prince fans, especially on Wed. night!

Also, WXYZ bar at Aloft Hotel in downtown Minneapolis showed Sign O' the Times on Prince's birthday this year. I've never been there so don't know if they normally show movies, but it may be worth seeing if they'd want to be involved in any way?

Lady Gaga? I mean I like her music but what does she have to do with Prince? I really hope this doesn't turn into a big name even that Non-Prince fans will scramble to go to. This is supposed to be about his fans. Gaga is fun and all, but what about Sheila, Morris, Chaka? Unless Gaga is going to be playing horns in the band, I'm not impressed. Hope some of the musicians he knew closest will be performing the majority.

Sure there is a connection. They don't necessarily have to have known Prince. They were both influenced by him in ways. The concert will be huge. They are not going to fill a stadium with acts like Esperanza Spalding or Sheila E.

My memory is a bit fuzzy about everybody who said they were influenced by P, but I think I remember Bruno saying that he was, not sure about Lady Gaga but I could see it. She has not own unique creativity.

Yes! KEEP. IT. PURPLE. Prince did NOT care about celebrity status, so anyone that truly wants to honor him should not consider someone's celebrity status when choosing the artists to honor him at a memorial tribute. Period.

Gotcha, good to know. That sounds like a weird ass setup.

Lenka Paris puts those nights together and is an AWESOME Princey DJ (my favorite, in fact). She used to spin at Paisley Park from time to time, including at the last celebration. She has a good connection w/the folks at Aloft and they let her use the space to throw Prince parties now and again. It's more about the party than a viewing of the movie.

I'm sure she'll be putting something on that weekend. Will check in w/her.

You're underestimating the number of worldwide fams that would attend a genuine memorial tribute focused on the musicians, singers and groups that loved him dearly and worked with him. What I have been seeing people post in the past day or so is that the more the tribute focuses on celebrities, the less interested real fams are in attending. I agree. If they need to focus on what artists will be picked up for a TV telecast, then make that a separate TV event not related to this. Film it in a theater or TV studio. Don't do that to our ONE chance to attend a memorial for someone that has been a huge, incredibly important part of our lives.

Yes, he believed in encouraging and challenging the next generation of artists, and he wanted to do that with Bruno. I wouldn't mind seeing him do one song. He's very talented, but he's by no means a huge part of Prince's life or Prince's world. The focus should not be on big stars because that's not what Prince would have wanted.

The more this gets focused on big names, the more people who are not Prince Fams will be trying to get tickets. The stadium should be filled with people who truly love Prince, not fans of other artists...

I didnt feel like Prince was gone, but as time goes on If he really is gone, the more that comes out the more I worry (murder) especially with the AEG Randy Phillips, Londel McMillan, and Judith Hill creepy connection.

I know that Esperanza Spalding, Judith Hill, Andy Allo, former band members, Sheila E., etc. may not pack the house and may not get a HBO deal, but that is what Prince would have wanted. He would have cringed at the thought of some of the ideas that are floating around about this, but it is what it is. He is not here and it will be what it will be. That is why I think his true fans need to have some gatherings and events also. This thing is in our hands now. He wanted fans to be more involved as evidenced by the Phase 2 distribution.

I understand its a lot of tickets to sell and the big names would help it sell out (or help justify higher ticket prices ), but since they do have 2 months to promote this concert, i hope that they will wait a few days after the tickets go on sale before they announce performers like marz or gaga (though i would be elated if stevie will play), so that in case they do sell out fast, it will hopefully be more purple army that get tickets. i mean, this is the first mega purple reunion since p was abducted by aliens or whatever, so i think it should sell well. wonder if they will take any measures to avoid scalping?

• also do yall know of any threads here devoted to listing everyone's dream top 20 tribute per4mers or something like that? Just interested in who orgers would choose
