I Love U In Me

Hey everyone..

I recently saw a video posted of Prince performing I Love U In Me that someone posted on a FB page...I thought I had saved the video to see again but I guess I didn't. This was the first time I had seen him do that song live and on video. Has anyone seen this or know where it can be seen?

Thanks in advance. You all are always so helpful!!

He performed it on The Ultimate Live Experience as a regular song, and later on, randomly, in the piano segment of shows.

I recently watched The Ultimate Live Experience on YouTube, and just loved it. It was 90% newer stuff from TGE, Come, etc. You can probably tell by his hair or outfits what era the video was taken from.

Such a beautiful song. I don't get the hate for the surgery line either. These are perhaps some of his finest backing vocals too - "so freeeee, yeah!"

Yep. That was quite a surprise, that he played this old b-side on a tour that was only featuring prince music. He also played Pink Cashmere on that tour, so maybe he was also sort of promoting the Hits/B-Sides album??? If so, he did a pretty bad job of it. And he did a pretty bad job of promoting The Gold Experience either. Everything was just a mess in those years...

It's frequently called 'cringey' or such whenever it's mentioned. I love it. Always viewed the surgery line as 'healing'.

I always took it as she was just very precise and knew what she was doing. I never cringed at the line, and was always surprised to hear people balk over something so random like that.

He flat out says he'd rape a girl, out of pure lust, in "Lust U Always", "My body reeks with lust/I will rape you if i must", and folks upset about "surgery"? We all know rape is about power, not lust anyway, so there's at least two strikes against that damn song. But folks upset about "it's like surgery..."? lol

biggrin You have a point.

I just imagine scalpels and forceps and thangs, all up in in the mix and those really hot floodlights and... yeah. I cringe every time, because I hate assisting in surgery (Yeah, I really don't like surgery at all. lol ) I wish I could like this song, but I can't. I mean, I'm even reading this thread to see what people like about it in order to try to see if I can shift the imagery away from actual, you know, SURGERY. biggrin

I didn't speak much English when I first heard this song. I always thought it was a beautiful love ballad. Until many years later I finally understood the lyrics. The line about promising himself not to come until she does made my jaw drop haha.
I've never heard it five, but I'd love to...

Yes, I agree. I teach music and have surgeons on my roster. I see it as 'thoughtfulness' and 'precision' in the delivery of love....ooh, that even turned me on....lol lol love

Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

A mess?? These were some of the most exciting times!! The tour was amazing, I went three times in a week (Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham), the many TV appearances, the 'mysterious' Gold Experience album... 😎😎 cool
