Tom Jones's fans used to throw their underwear at him. Can you imagine doing that to Prince..he would have ran a mile

I'm glad he had fans who wouldn't do that kind of thing to him.

The problem with taking a sneaky pic of him if you were close enough is that he would immediately see. I swear that guy had eyes in the back of his head!

Hi Nursev,

Nothing great to report, sadly. I missed his P & a M tour here in Melbourne and am still mortified over it (....very eerily, I felt a strong need around Feb to pay attention to the Melb Arts Center, but somehow missed finding out about the last minute concert nonetheless).

Did see him in 2003 I believe it was (angry that I missed him here in 2011) and I went to the afterparty at the Prince of Wales Hotel in St Klda Melbourne. He came on stage and danced less than half a meter in front of me, but sadly only stayed about ten minutes and didn't perform any songs.

Heard from the Melbourne dj MzRizk of her experience meeting Prince at his afterparty in 2016 at QV, following his Piano and a Microphone concerts. (She apparently got tickets to at least 3 of these concerts, whilst so many of us completely missed out ...probably pays to be in the music industry).

But he supposedly crossed over the roped section and dance with a bunch of fans. She said that everyone was respectful of him and did not crowd him. kirky J was with him and there were fruit platters on tables nearby. At one point, because I belive it was that no one had the balls to speak to him, MzRizk blurted out "Hey Prince, can I have some fruit." and he smirked, and picked up the tray to offer it to her. Their eyes also locked at one point, she said. She made it seem that he was pleased with her casual confidence.

Here is a link to the marathon Prince birthday radio tribute they did, and which I listened to chunks of...

http://www.theaustralian....57cb9b20bf

It is about Prince's personal photographer, who lived with him, perhaps even up to the end. An Australian woman and her boyfriend live at Paisley Park too. Supposedly Prince was bemused by him because he was a real frank and down to earth "Aussie bloke" and would make him laugh a lot. ...lots of ping pong apparently went on too.

Oh, yeah, I read this, and could see how he'd be a bit bemused by a person who treated him like, well, a person. I get the feeling he rarely got that from people -- to just be able to be Prince Nelson, and not The Great Prince.

In the night of 18th/19th August 2007 in London (during the Earth Tour - 21 nights in London), it was my second aftershow and I had prepared a little card to thank Prince for showing up (in optimistic anticipation) as he didn’t always come to the aftershows. Luckily he did ! smile

I waited for a quiet moment during the show and as I was already at the front (less than a meter away from him), I handed him the tiny square envelope. He looked down towards me and said, "Oh, what is it?" I answered "It’s for you". He took it and said “Thank you!” with a smile, tucked it under his shirt (against his skin) and after rolling his eyes he then gave me a cheeky enamored look, to which I replied:"It's not what you're thinking..." I was trying to be funny but - oh no, I had offended the artist! - his face suddenly changed and he gave me that disapproving look and threw the card back into the crowd. I think he was just being playful. Some people helped me to pick it up, and I placed it on the floor in front of the microphone stand. For the rest of the show, he was pushing the card towards me and I was pushing it back towards him, at least ten times we did that.

The next aftershow I went to (1st of September?), everyone thought the show was over and started leaving. But then Prince suddenly came back on so everyone came rushing back into the venue. This caused a mini stampede towards the front and somehow I ended up in the stairs and partly on the stage, as I was trying to avoid the forceful movement of the crowd. Some of you might remember this (Will.I.am was there that night). At that moment when Prince saw me, he must have recognized me cause he pointed his finger towards me and had a big grin on his face.

Just when I thought I had secured my place in his "annoying fans" list, at the end of the following aftershow (in the night of 13th September) he surprised me by inviting me to dance onstage (totally out of the blue)... He grabbed my hand lifted me onto the stage then still holding my hand put his other arm around my waist and accompanied me onto my “spot” near the drums. I remember he also picked a tall man and a girl whom I met again at a Maceo Parker gig later that year (if you read this, I would love to hear from you!). The band played Musicology whilst Prince walked and played guitar around us, watching us and smiling, I don’t even know how I managed to dance under such circumstances, but somehow I did… They carried on playing Musicology, then went off doing some sort of New Orleans brass jamming session for ages and he let the three of us dance all that time until the very end of the show. Then I suddenly felt someone grab me by the waist, I looked to my left and it was Shelby. All the band members had joined up with us in a line to salute the audience as Prince was now saying goodbye. We all walked up and down the stage and saluted the audience. The lights then went off, and by the time they went back on, Prince and the band had gone.

Totally dazed, I walked back down the side steps, on the dance floor, nearly everyone had gone but some fans had stayed and started surrounding me and they all seemed just as mesmerized as I was by what had happened. No need to mention that I didn't really sleep that night... eek

I was at the 3rd and final Lovesexy show in Chicago. Two of my friends and I went to the venue around 2:00pm in the afternoon hoping to catch a glimpse of something. There was a lady who brought her two teenage children to see the shows. Her daughter could not walk. She told us that she had spoke to Prince's limo driver the evening before and told him her daughter would like to meet him. He said he would pass that along, but couldn't make any promises. Around 3:00pm this caravan of limos pull into the lot. The venue was Rosemont Horizon and it had this long ramp that went underneath the venue. All the limos were driving in and the last one stopped and backed all the way back up to the ground level. His bodyguard, who I later found out to be Gilbert Davison, comes around back and opens the door and Prince gets out. I took a photo and Gilbert asked me not to take anymore. I just asked if I could touch him and he grabs my elbow and smiled. He also grabbed my two friends hands. I was in utter shock. I won't be posting the picture though, it's one of the only things that I have that no one else does.

The last Paisley Park party there was a woman that had brought Prince flowers. After he gave his first speech in the Love 4 One Another/NPGMC room, she approached him. He smiled and whisphered something in her ear. He didn't take the flowers though. I later saw them laying on a table. The day he died I saw her on a local news clip crying. sad
