Why didn't Prince tour more in the USA south?

There are SO MANY fans in Texas. He literally NEVER comes here. I jumped out of my seat when he went to Louisiana. i just KNEW he was going to come to Texas. I wanted to see him in concert so bad. :/

For much the same reasons he didn't really tour anywhere I lived while he was alive.

I don't know why someone edited my title. There isn't anything hard to understand. 'North, South, East & West' people.

Yeah, I wish he came here more. We anticpate on him ALL the time.

Well we know that's simply untrue. He made multiple stops in Texas for many tours. Sometimes circling back around to the same city (Houston, Austin) on the same tour.

http://sites.google.com/site/princetourhistory/ Search ", TX" and look at the dates. Maybe you just kept missing him.

Dude, the last time Prince came here was in 2004 during the Musicology Era. I can safely say he NEVER comes here. The 80's doesn't even count. We never had heard of Prince coming to the south for a long while & even when he did he STILL managed to skip Texas.

Does he just hate it here or something? :/

Thank you for understanding that he NEVER came here. I am GLAD someone from this state can attest to this. You won't find Prince walking around in this place. I find it increasingly harder to find Prince items here in the south. I don't get it.

Look at his tour history. He went very few US places at all. Vegas for that long stint, that some longer dates in Denver, and the midwest. Lots of stuff overseas: Australia, Canada, Europe, so the south is just part of what he missed post-Musicology. The Carolinas a coupe of times are the exceptions. And that's stretching it.

I'm so happy I live in Los Angeles. He played here every year, whether it was on tour or a one off show. Last show I saw him at was at the Palladium in 2015.

Heck in the 2000s he only played Minnesota (not including Paisley Park one offs) 3 times - 2001, 2004 and 2013. He really seemed to like NY, LA and Oakland.

He came to Charleston in 1981 at a small venue, and then didn't come back for 30 years, to a larger venue.

The Purple Army is international?

I mean, per this site he came to my hometown 10 times and for 9 of them I was literally too young to go.

Yes, he pretty much stopped touring broadly in the US after Musicology.

C'est la vie.

Prince didn't come to Utah until 1997, to open a new music-friendly arena (at that time, named The E-Center) in a suburb of Salt Lake City. The Jazz arena (Delta Center) was notorious for having poor accoustics....PLUS, WE ARE UTAH.

I've been to Texas quite a bit and Texas' weird laws are a lot like Utah's.

We looked like real hicks when Prince came in '97. Why? Because they cut his after-show jam at Salt Lake City's Bricks Club after only about 45 minutes. Why? Because of a law that said you can't dance after 2am!

He did come back to Usana amphitheater....both appearances here when we were out of town for lengthy times.

He played 2 Jam of the Year tour dates in Houston within one year, the 2nd one being a New Years show with an after party concert.

Then he played two Musicology shows here. I saw both.

He played 6 Purple Rain shows in a row here.

There's an entire 1999 Houston concert on bootleg video

I saw him on his Lovesexy '88 tour here.

I also saw the Tamar concert with Prince as her guitarist at the grand opening of a small venue here in Houston.

And I was front row center to the ONA show he did here....

Oh yeah, he played the 2000 era Hit n Run show at the University of Houston. I couldn't believe it when he opened old school with Uptown.

He found a lot of band members around here too... Morris Hayes, Cora and Josh, Tamar.

He secretly booked recording time at a studio in Houston at one point as well.
