There were a couple of barn mice in the deleted scene, apparently. They had turned up to see what all the racket was about, but were only noticed after the film was shot. The whole scene had to go. Life Matters | |

Nope. In fact, I watched some of PR today and can't wait to get to the bedroom scene. That Prince was something else. And I didn't know there was a barn scene. It makes sense now though. And I need to find it of course :) Do you think it's in YouTube? I'm looking now - and in Google | |

there ought to be a petition - "RELEASE THE PURPLE RAIN BARN SCENE" . I too am curious to see this, even though I'm very inclined to think it's very "soft core". if even that. . I also want to see the scene where "the Kid" & JELLYBEAN get into it.. . what does ALAN LEEDS know about this?? he ought to know someone or at least have some idea of if/how these deleted PR scenes could be found/accessed.. I'll see you tonight..

From Alan Light's book Let's Go Crazy: Prince and the Making of Purple Rain:
"Magnolia confirms the long-running rumor that there was another sex scene between Prince and Apollonia, shot in a barn and involving a shower of almost literal 'purple rain.' Though he's been cagey about this in the past and says that it was never included in any cut of the film, shots from this scene actually appear in the Purple Rain trailer and in the 'When Doves Cry' music video. 'That scene was shot in the first week,' says Ken Robinson. 'We looked at dailies, and she was playing it a little bigger than she was supposed to, and you could see the awkwardness, the uncomfortableness on his face. I always thought the scene was canned because the farmer whose barn it was turned up and went apeshit. I hear he was a religious type and chased em out of there with his pitchfork.
