I find A LOT of comfort by listening to his music .it makes me believe he's still here with us. I'm so thankful for the music he left us.

I feel guilty listening to anyone else's music. I guess it hits us all in different ways.

I used to keep the classical station on my car radio, now it's just his c/d's playing over and over. I can't stop. His guitar playing is a thing of beauty, just thinking of his fingers on the strings and the speed that they moved, nobody like him, crying, dammit, again.

admission is easy, just say U believe, then come 2 this place in your heart.

Listen to New Power Soul. It'll make you cry for a different reason. razz

It's not odd, it's painful for those who are still pretty wounded by all this. I've only recently gotten back to listening myself, only when I feel up to it, usually happy stuff so it keeps my mind off the fact that he's gone. Everybody handles it differently, nothing wrong w/ that smile

I have listened to nothing else since he passed but several days in I realized it was making me feel very, very sad and I thought to myself that I should take a break for awhile. But. . .I couldn't. I didn't want to hear anything else and still don't. It's just that for over a month, I had to do it through tears. The crying is very sporadic now and overall I'd say I'm at a point where I feel comforted by his music more than anything else.

I've noticed an interesting difference amongst the fans here, some of whom cannot so much as hear the music, nor look at a magazine/video or such, and those who seem to only be able to listen to his music, watch videos etc (of course there are those that fall somewhere in between too).

I find myself wanting to hear everything, see everything, have everything (thoug the wallet doesn't agree), like I can't get enough. I want to cherish it all and fill the void that has been left behind. It's starting to ease a bit now, but that's how it's been for me lately.

That being said, I completely understand not being able to hear his voice, because it hurts to much. It brings me to tears all the time, but I still have him there with me, as do you, we'll all get through it at our own pace. heart

I've only recently been able to listen. Immediately following Apr 21st the sound of his voice was too much to bear. I avoided it. I couldn't listen to any music at all. Then I decided to force myself because i didn't want to miss all the stuff suddenly available on YT. I'm so glad I did but initially it was painful and I sobbed thru it. But it's gotten better and I've seen so many amazing recordings of concerts and videos it's been worth it. I still can't listen to anything else but at least his music is bringing more comfort than pain at this point.

Same here. However I feel like it's a damned if I do, damned if I don't type of situation. I have to listen to him daily. I feel incomplete when I don't. However, at times when I listen it's devastating and reality hits all over again. I've realized what my "trigger" songs are so I avoid those still, but there are times when all of a sudden a wave of sadness comes over and I'm instantly in tears. Everyone grieves differently.

From now on, 4 U I shall be wild πŸ’œ

A little secret. Every night i go to bed with my headphones on, might be a concert, might be a quiet storm playlist or a list of vault material. My Mrs thinks i'm drifting off to an audiobook but really it's Prince serenading me off to dreamland most nights.

.

Sometimes we might even make love first.

As Spock would say isn't crying for months over a celebrity "illogical". I just don't understand it and as sad as I get... Well nothing can make me cry. I just think life goes on...

And you are well within your rights to think like that. But Prince was not just a 'celebrity'. He was arguably one of the most gifted artists of our lifetimes. We may not have known the man but we knew his music. And his music has been the soundtrack to many of our lives.. it has wowed us, comforted.. made us dance.. made the hair on our necks stand on end. When Prince died a part of many people died too. As you say, life does go on but it is a darker place without this GREAT talent in it.

What would Spock know? eek Everyone is different. I can listen to his music but have to be selective but I cannot not listen to him, I repect his music too much to change that habit I have always had.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind πŸ’œ

Come on, people!

Listen to the music. Tears? Cry to your heart's content but keep listening to his music (and other people's music), that's what he would have wanted you to do.

Basically I agree with everything u say but we have wives. Spouses kids families to devote our emotions too. I appreciate Prince as one of the most creative gifted artists but while I will miss him... I don't want to let misery rule me. I am guessing most of the people crying are young girls and I can get that but have concerns about 50 and 60 year old people letting this disrupt their emotional life.

Exactly! Get your Prince on, might be just a thought, a song or two, a full album or a full day. Play the man!

No right way or wrong way to grieve. For me, I have listened to more of Prince since his death than I have the past 5 years. It has been such a blast to revist his music, buy some newer stuff, and let his soul and genuis reign. When I am not listening, parts of his songs drift through my mind continually. I have brought several other albums by other artists since then and they are all mostly on hold in terms of finding time to listen to them. When I try, they all seem to come up short. Nothing compares 2 U, Indeed!
