The Very Best of Prince Album Sales.

The Very Best of Prince is heading to become Prince's #2 selling album of all time, behind Purple Rain of course.

Both 1999 and D&P have sold over 6 million copies world wide, however in the 2 weeks after Prince's death, TVBOP sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S. alone.

7 weeks now on the charts it is still selling strong world wide currently at #21 with over 32,000 copies sold.

The estimated sales so far for TVBOP combinding the old Platinum certification it received in 2002 stands at over 5 million copies world wide.

With steady sales and still in the TOP 50 it can surpass 1999 and D&P in the next few weeks.

This actually kinda sucks..Prince was against the release of this CD and its very far from being the "best of" prince .I would rather it be ultimate or the hits b sides CD instead

prince was against a lot of things that would've served his best interests.

Agreed. It absolutely sucks as a compilation, from the track listing down to the misleading cover art.

The response to his passing with all of these sales has been amazing, but The Hits/The B-Sides and Ultimate are far better compilations (and not that much more expensive).

Completely agree...

In terms of BEST selling PRINCE albums after his death, in order are:

1. THE VERY BEST OF PRINCE

2. PURPLE RAIN

3. THE HITS/THE B-SIDES

4. ULTIMATE PRINCE

5. 1999

I'm surprised Diamonds and Pearls didn't sell more than it has. It was a big hit back in 91/92 but didn't even re-enter the BB 200 after his death. Hell, even "For You" made the chart again.

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

The Hits/B-Sides is the only compilation worth having.

It did re enter but I believe only for 1 or 2 weeks.

As a matter of fact all these albums re entered the BB 200 after his death, and exited just as fast...

I'd agree it's far better than The Very Best of, however "Ultimate" is well worth having for the CD of remixes/extended versions that were previously only available on vinyl.

all the great albums he put out and Diamonds And Pearls is his 3rd biggest selling album? lame.

.

i'd put it nearly at the bottom of his works. only emancipation would be lower in my eyes.

i didn't like the track listing in this collection. it should have started from the beginning and worked it's way through. it was all over the place, a real turnoff. plus they didn't even put some of his best songs in there, just the singles.

.

anyway, i just bought it for the b-sides. that was a fun listen from beginning to end.

Since when do sales translate to great art? Britney Spears has outsold Prince.

CAL3

Even if it's not the ideal compilation, what's nice is that maybe its popularity has inspired some news fans to delve deeper into the discography.
