It's actually one of my favourite current albums of his. It's a shame it's so scarce.

It was given away with newspapers in Europe. Don't think it ever got an official US release.

RIP sad

I don't have many, but I have this one thanks to a desperate plea on Facebook and a friend of mine whose friend was in the UK at the time. It is so good.

It really sucks that it's not available to all. sad

Album is crazy good, and crazy consistent. If the Dirty Mind album and the Musicology album had a kid, this would be it!

Future Soul Song (Prince's last truly great ballad)

Sticky Like Glue (funky guitar licks)

Act of God (slapping bass)

Lavaux (chords sound like 1999)

Walk in Sand (nice and breezy tune)

Sea of Everything (modern day Do Me Baby)

Laydown (Purple Yoda rap)

The other tracks are just OK (except ELM which tries pretty hard to ruin the album).

Odd why it was not only not released.in the U.S but in the UK it was given away practically free (very cheap) with a newspaper. I remeber at the time many U.S fans were annoyed about that and felt disgruntled

Wonder why this strategy?

There are threads that review this album and all the songs.

I had a dream last night
That I was singing and the sound of my voice
Seemed to come from every mountain top
Like it had no choice
And when my voice rose, so did the sun
When the trees sang the harmony as one
Every living soul sang the most beautiful
Melody ever sung
Ooh, ooh, sha la la la la
This is the future soul song
Ooh, ooh, sha la la la la
This is the future soul song

If you were a wide awake fan at that time it was easy to get a copy of the newspaper with the CD sent to the USA & it wasn't expensive.

I like it. There are some songs on it that I don´t really care about but at least three songs are just as good as songs from his classic albums.

I like Future Soul Song, Sticky Like Glue and Walk in Sand a lot, and the rest is pretty solid, too ( don´t like Compassion, Everybody Loves Me), and Lavaux and Act of God are ok but the lyrics don´t really touch me.

The album cover is so much better than his mid to late 90s covers or any of his other more recent covers.

Good for you to find an album you haven't heard, thinking you had heard it all!

It's definitely consistent. If there's one song on the album you like, you're likely to like it all.

What are the legal aspects as far as re-releases are concerned? Most of his later albums were one release distribution deals, so the record companies in question could only release the album once and the masters belonged to Prince.

So...what if a company wanted to release this album again?

Would they have to ask the estate for permission? Or is the likelihood of a 20Ten re-release practically zero due to little demand? And what about the even rarer NPG releases such as the ONA piano album? The ONA live box set?

The moment I heard of his passing, 20ten is the first thing I sought to buy on EBay (I'm in US), as it was the last thing I didn't have in my collection (and ONA Live). Years ago when it was released I tried to buy it off EBay, was always outbid, then I forgot about it.

Now if only I can get ONA Live...
