Two new heirs emerge for Prince's fortune

Norman Yates Carthens has filed documents with a probate court claiming the 'Purple Rain' star - who passed away in April, aged 57 - adopted him and says there is a will that will prove his links.

He claims Prince left him as much as $7 million of his estate, but Norman has been unable to tell officials where the will is right now.

Similarly, Regina Sorenson has filed documents with the court claiming to be a half-sibling of the legendary singer-songwriter, according to gossip website TMZ.

According to TMZ (lol!) approximately 55 percent of American adults do not have a will or other estate plan in place, according to LexisNexis. This number has stayed relatively steady during the 2000s, even as the number of other estate planning documents Americans have -- like medical directives -- has increased. Among minorities, the numbers are higher than in the general population: 68 percent of black adults and 74 percent of Hispanic adults do not have one.

Prince was in the majority on this one.

Well at least the guy with the will is original. The other just has to be DNA tested, there's enough real half siblings to verify any similarities.

I can't blame people for coming forward if they think Prince might be their father. May as well right? I just know Tyka is looking at a tiny fraction of the estate, and possibly nothing at all if a biological child exists. Meanwhile the government walks away with more than half of everything Prince had, all because he couldn't pull his head out of the clouds, long enough to sign a simple document. This is the most surprising thing to me, because he clearly was having conversations with doctors, and knew he was sick and had a good chance of dying from opiate abuse.

I don't know if this qualifies me as an heir, but Prince once told me via a surrogate that I was "now an official member of the New Power Generation."

Can Tyka and all these half-siblings say that?

If he'd adopted a kid there would be legal paperwork hencould produce so easily it hurts if he isn't doing so. If he was his adopted son surely he would also have pics of them together, gifts, cards etc. Seems an easy one to prove if it's true - court papers etc.

Yeah but like I don't have a will cuz I don't have anything. You know, I'm not sitting on a vault full of music, multiple properties, or anything that's worth anything really. I have beneficiaries listed for insurance and stuff but beyond that- they can fight over my books and CDs. It just seems weird that someone who actually has something wouldn't work it out- Prince or not.
Surprise, surprise.
