Prince had a preference for turtlenecks?

If you look at pictures of him at Paisley Park starting around 1988 up to 2001, he wore a lot of turtlenecks.

Maybe he liked the way they made him look taller?

Huh, were they supposed to?

Honestly, he looked like a short man wearing a turtleneck to me. I never did get how this kind of thing wa supposed to create the illusion of something else... because it never seemed to make a difference to me. Well, except that it made me notice he had a long neck. lol

I think they hid his unusually long neck and super large Adam's apple. He was quite fond of wearing giant, upturned collars or scarves.

Haha that fro.
Wow.

I could first notice I was getting older by my neck. I love scarf weather.

PRIIIIINNNNNCCCCEEEEE!
Ugh. I really wondered how he was going to age and the last time I was on here before he died, y'all were talking about his bald spot. And that you didn't like his fro.

I'm so depressed right now. But I guess sometimes my best work comes from that.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

He lived in Minnesota. In the midwest we wear turtlenecks to keep warm

when pulling up quotes from interviews I came across one where he was talking about growing old or dying young. I couldn't look at it 4 too long.

I have listened to many interviews in the past weeks so sometimes they blend together but I think it was a local MN interviewer asked Prince how long he was continue performing. His response was If God was willing and he made it to 60 he would still be performing at 60. cry

It gets bitterly cold in MN. We have windchills that can make the air feel much, much colder than the actual temp...The struggle to stay warm is real, especially in January. Turtlenecks are important round here!

Im originally from Detroit and I love me a big ass comfortable sweater and a turtleneck so maybe Prince liked them too because of the cold weather in MN....hell its colder there than in Detroit lol

Prince seemed very practically minded at times, so I don't think he was wearing them for any other reason than being warm and comfy. And if it had been warm he wouldn't have worn much more... razz

Maybe he just liked the way he looked in them.

I think the big collars helped him look taller, as did the buttons down the side of the pants.

Oh, and the heels.

And also when you have very low body fat, as Prince did.

Turtlenecks were cool back in the day and they kept your neck warm. Fashions change.

90s fashion, had a lot of those and lived wearing them with hoops. I remember janet and j lo wearing turtlenecks too.

Or maybe he wanted attention on the music and off his scrumptious neck

Long neck, low body fat equals turtlenecks. Works for me, he was gorgeous no matter what he wore.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod
