More to come unfortunately... It's going to get real sad and extra auto tuned around these parts.

It's pretty wild when you think about how many greats are still around and maybe shouldn't be considering how wild some folks lived but they will all eventually start dropping.

Really sucks that the two greatest innovators of all time went within months of each other.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

I hear you. i dragged the guitar out and have been singing twice a week but it really isn't the same. if we live another 100 years, we will never see the likes of either one again. my soul is sick. they were my everything, creativley. now it feels like what's the point. still crying over them both but the sting is gone. still can't believe they're gone. my 2 favorites gone within months of each other and i'm not even 45 yrs old yet. i wanted to grow old with them...... my soul is deeply grieved.

I met someone yesterday who legitimately did not know Prince had died. I was checking out a book on Prince at a library and the lady said, "Oh, is he still performing?"

"... No, he died."
"What!? When!?"
"Two months ago..."
"Didn't Bowie die as well this year?"
"Yeah. sad"

"Wow. Time flies, huh?"
"Sure does."

She was no older than 40. It was kind of humbling to realise how different other people's lives can be from yours. I wonder how she walked around in society for that long and missed the news completely.

A lot of people I've talked to over the yrs didn't know Prince was still alive. He really wasn't very popular for a while. We loved him and we were hard core, but to most people, the world had moved on.

My grief runs deep as well... I keep waiting to "get over it" like most of my friends have, but I think I'm becoming even more obsessive about Prince. cry

No-one else could understand you, you're too complex. They say nothing's perfect, but they don't know you...

Somehow.
Damn.

Yeah it's one of those

It's worse though, since you'd expect to lose McCartney or Jagger before Prince. And Bowie is more their era/age.

....shouldn't but will mention this... Saw a ""channelling Prince"" vid on youtube (couldn't help my self) ... But the question was posed to ""Prince"" as to why sommany musicians seemed to be dying in 2016 and ""Prince"" supposedly gave a big smile before giving some vague answer about one's mission having been accomplised.

....hope your thread doesn't get shutdown. If so- moderator: just erase my post.
But I haven't given a link and haven't suggested that the "channeling" was actually the real deal as opposed to a total hoax.

I think that the ticket sales to his concerts prove otherwise: there were PLENTY more non-hardcore fans who Prince would probably refer to as "tourists" familiar more with his Raspberry Beret/Purple Rain era music, who were quick to buy tickets to see him perform.

maybe the fact he wasn't gone 30 years ago is an indication of his astounding constitution so yeah, he might outlast eek

*snicker* Love this.

Aside - and I'm a little ashamed to admit this. BUT. On 4/21/2016, I was working. I was on the phone with a guy that works for me, reviewing mundane work items. We work with a guy who is also named Prince (different last name, obviously). I guess the guy that works for me got the breaking news alert about Prince's death - I hadn't seen anything about it yet - and he told me, while we were on the phone, "How weird is it that Prince is dead?"

In my mind, I split between Prince the genuis musician and Prince the unrelated guy we worked with. In that split second, I remembered thinking "I hope it's the Prince we work with and not *PRINCE*". How effed up is THAT??

They are a lot more surprised that he was still alive than actually know who he was other than the "Purple Rain Guy"
