Mojo magazine (uk) Decided princes death wasn't important enough to grace the cover .....

MOJO Magazine decided to go against the grain and pretty much offend all music lovers by having princes death as an aside on the cover
Bob dillan is on the cover
I shit you not
Racism or plain ignorance ?

I think they just made a hard decision. But no way is that racism. Maybe they saw that everyone else is going with Prince and chose not to, you know, it's better than the sun or mirror doing a special or tribute piece which is full of the same old bullshit and inaccuracies etc. I'd say well done mojo to an extent for not joining the cashgrab…and they do have an article, and I'll bet you it's better than a good 75% of the others.
.
Also I think Mojo was one of his most recent magazine covers while he was still with us - around the time of the U.K. Hitnrun tour part 2 - so to have him again might smell a bit of chasing the money?

You people need to stop pulling out the race card randomly. It cheapens when it should be pulled & used.

They're both Minnesota boys. While I agree Prince's death is certainly worth the cover, I suppose it also depends when they went to press, and how easily it would have been to change it & still make deadline.

This has already been covered on here, and there's a sticky for magazines: http://prince.org/msg/7/424190

Seriously, who spells Bob Dylan as 'dillan'…?!

The man's name has only been in print for the last 53 years! Hell, it's written on the Mojo magazine you're so offended by.

'princes' irks me too… it's Prince's dude

sheesh!

Not on the cover? I can't even believe yet that he isn't here anymore.

It would be nice if they do it next time. Everyone's doing it now. All at once.

Honouring prince or putting dillian on the cover ?

I just think it's incredibly offensive and yes racist

Look at mojo magazine since it started , look at the covers

Prince graced the cover when he was alive in 2014 - that means more to me.

I know what Prince meant to me and how I consider him. What magazine editors choose to put on their covers makes zero difference to me.

I don't perceive how Mojo is being overtly racist, since Prince was on the cover only 2 years ago and the issue does feature a commemoration of his life.

A cover might be nice, but it wouldn't change anything, nor does the lack of it in any way tarnish Prince's influence or legacy.

'dillian' …!

btw, Mojo had a Prince cover in 2014 but agreed, it's unbelievable they went with another Bob Dylan cover this month… he's only been on the cover of Mojo a billion times! Sure, it was Dylan's 75th birthday but clearly Prince's death was the bigger story - and besides, Prince deserved the honour.

i bought mojo on friday on my way home from work, the dylan stuff is about the fiftieth anniversary

of 'blonde on blonde ,with interviews with the musicians who played on that album and how it was put together.so i suppose it had been planned well in advance, their appraisal of prince is really quite

poor but what could they say about him that hasnt already been in loads of other papers and magazines,to be honest if prince had been on the cover i wouldnt have bought it.

There's already a thread on this subject. It was Bob Dylan's 75th birthday on May 24 so that was likely the reason as to why he got the cover, as well as mentioned above, the 50th anniversary of Blonde on Blonde.
