NEWS was nominated for a Grammy

and no one seems to know or care. I dont care about the category - it is PRINCE. I think people slept on it because U cant dance to it and it requires some true capacity to appreciate music without a repetitive beat. It is for adults who actually know how to liste to music - and super rare now. There should have been an award of the packaging design. I am glad I bought a few and never opened the spares.

I knew. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

it's a great album, and it was the first one i turned to after the news 21st of april,
it was the only thing i could stand to listen to. vocal tracks would've been too much.

anyway, great album, this and xpectation, i'm so glad he released those, oh and
also c-note. what a creative and interesting period.

i wish he'd released even more stuff like this, under the radar, when he was a free

agent and had a website. i would have jumped on that.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I love that he made an album like this, and I enjoy it very much when I am in the mood. I always thought it was a shame he didn't continue exploring that route.

I'm just going to agree with all this, the only exception being that I haven't heard C-Note. Is it as rare as I assume it is?

Rare? It was released digital, mp3, WMA.. No CDs pressed
And anything that's released digital floats around the internet forever
lol
I think... Think.. It can be streamed on. Tidal?

I've recently been listening to this album for the first time in years and am really enjoying it. There is a lot of depth to it and it is well worth exporing. I love jazz, and it is yet another example of his amazing versatility.

You encouraged me to give these another listen too. At first all I wanted to listen to was the familiar P now I am back to digging deep. I really enjoy Jazz so I am not sure why these remained buried in my collection. Listening to C-note now. Thanks music

I'm going to guess many people on the Org know and care. That's why we rule.

Yep, N.E.W.S. is great, and for me too it was the only thing I could listen to for a while after 4/21. It is also one of my 7 year old daughter's favourite (she grew up listening to stuff like Herbie Hancock, so she already has a discerning ear), a cool gem of an album for "real music lovers" as Prince used to call them.
