Prince Changing His Shoes On Stage

This is the most random damn thing I've seen Prince do, but it was funny. It's a clip, Prince Live ~ Stade de France, and he's laying on his piano. The band starts playing "Musicology". He then takes off his gold wedge-heeled sneakers, and puts on his fuzzy wedge-heeled boots. Then to kill a few measures, he vamps on the piano before getting into the song.

.

There's a lot of close up, shaky shots, so it's hard to tell anything else about it.

.

"Put your cameras down, clap your hands. It's okay!"

.

It's all audience shot, but the sound is good, and the video is taken from different people's videos in the audience, so it technically multi-shot.

.

Hilarious business. The stage was his true home. Thanks for posting.

Your post made me think of those blinky shoes he liked to wear.

And for some reason that thought made me really sad, like, sadder than anything else I've thought about since he died.

I don't know why. Maybe it's because he seemed so child-like in them, it just drives home the fact that he was too young to go.

Anyway, sorry, don't mean to be a downer!

I understand. When a close friend died in an accident at age 30, his wife said the worst reminder was looking at his shoes.

There´s a nice article written by the photographer who accompanied the tour at the time.

You´ve probably already seen it when I created a thread about it a few weeks ago but if you have not, it is worth reading.

I missed the other thread - thanks for sharing this here!

Do you think these DVDs are in his Vaults? Of course they'd be wonderful for his public, but think what they might also be for teaching...

"When we were done with the edit, Prince would invite the entire band into his dressing room… and they would all watch, at Prince’s insistence, the ENTIRE concert which they had just played, on DVD. Prince had a huge Plasma television that he brought from city to city explicitly for this purpose. So, at around midnight or 1AM we would start watching the show. This wasn’t just a fun thing to do, though. Prince would critique the show, watching it closely, talking about what worked, what didn’t work, where someone messed up (he even mentioned that he should give fines for missing a beat etc.) and when a song was going really well, he would get up and dance in the dressing room and sing, while watching himself do the same thing on the T.V."

"Hold on to your souls y'all. We got a long way to go. Thank you! We love y'all!"

The ending is a tearjerker, isn´t it ? A very beautifully written and touching article. I like how it starts and ends. And the picture is great.

Even while doing such mundane things as changing shoes he still looked supercool.

He could do the most random things and make it look cool.

I will forever miss him and his concerts, his music and personality, his presence on this planet.
