Taking sips of Tussin from his Grammys. That's fun.

If that's the case I hope Beyoncé gets the half with the Prince masters.

He's probably just boasting that because people are leaving Tidal, no reason to stay.

Great. So the guy who can't manage a record label to save his life is now in control of Prince's masters.

.

He's killed so many careers by signing people with him. I'm worried.

Why would anyone sign up?

I looked up on it and I'm not signing up unless I can see the catalogue first. Free Trial or no... And I still won't sign up.

I'd rather go to an artist's site and pay 14.00 directly to them (or whatever per song) and get my music that way. Maybe throw in some extras like exclusive album only content, a sticker, or cup of coffee.

Radio should be free.

Your Consumers are BROKE, music industry.

Only thing on Tidal I want that isn't available anywhere else is the 12" instrumental of GOD. However, I am not paying $20 for a digital file. I'll wait until the estate/trust gives WB their permission to release everything remastered and in deluxe editions.
Or for someone to send me an orgnote falloff I mean, I did buy the other Tidal exclusives in flac format. But they were reasonably priced...

So he has time to boast about Prince Masters but doesn't have time to make comments on Prince passing? He just made that remark to plug in Tidal. Such a fraud.

It's not in the U.S. store. And if it is, it's not lossless.

It was very inappropriate but he always impressed me as being cold and calculating.

I wonder if Jay knows the conspiracy theory is already out there that he's behind this?

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

confused Another vulture! I don't know if Beyonce's album coming out to rival Prince's claim on the charts was a coincidence. I feel like they thought that since everyone was coming to Tidal to look for Prince's music that they hit people with Beyonce on the front page and she debuted (?) #1 on the charts. How opportune and evil. People only care about their almighty dollar. No respect! confused confused

I didn't know any of this so I was foolish enough to sign up for Tidal. I'm just doing the free 30 day trial and then I'm out. They don't even have 20Ten and that's the cd I want to hear. I've heard songs from it watching his performances but I want to hear the entire cd. I feel bad for signing up after reading everyone's post. Where else can I go to listen to his music. I had a lot of CDs but I don't know where they are because I've moved so much.

Prince did sign with TIDAL and supported both the streaming service and Jay-Z very vocally.

He did entrust them with his masters and he did this all before he passed. Therefore I can see no ethical issue with TIDAL other than peoples preferences, which were not Prince's.

TIDAL was where Prince wanted people to access his music. What's the problem?

Also, look up both the piano & microphone tracks ('Black Sweat', 'Joy in Repetition', 'Little Red Corvette/Dirty Mind)' and songs like 'If I Can Get Your Attention' & 'Free Urself'. The NPGMC albums are also on the site as is 'The War', etc.

As for being 'foolish' enough to sign up for Tidal, it is where Prince wanted us to access his music. Without Tidal we probably would never have heard Phase 1 & 2 and other music.

Is there an interview of Prince or something in which he explains why he chose Tidal to let people hear his music?

Also, why didn't he start his own streaming service?

It's not available on iTunes in America. I'm guessing you're in Europe.

Hey, don't feel "foolish" or bad in any way for trying Tidal. I did the 30-day free trial too (just ran out the other day in fact). No harm, no foul.

I agree with OperatingThetan above that Prince purposefully chose Tidal on his own and seemed quite happy with his music being on there even if it is a sinking ship.

I heard the Jay-Z reference it was released a few weeks ago and don't find anything wrong with it...bet Prince would endorse that line

With that said I was with Tidal for over 6 months on different free accounts and felt it was a pretty good experience...much better then crappy Apple Music

I joined TIDAL to download Prince music I don't have. I will be leaving TIDAL as soon as I download the music. If this is Prince's streaming home, I will go there.

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

Prince liked Tidal. He used it, he wanted his fans to use it. It's also the best streaming platform there is from a technical standpoint.

RE: Jay-Z rapping about Prince... If you're going to try and be clever and reference Prince's work in your song, don't say elevator when you really mean "de-elevator".

RE: The subject matter "Prince left his masters where they safe and sound" - Did he? Is there any actual evidence Prince "left" his masters with or to Tidal?

Ironically, it's likely Prince's death that ensures Tidal will survive.

The worst is the varying sound quality. Some tracks I have to turn WAY up and then Something new comes on and blasts me out of the room. Also the buffering.

No one listening to music should be subjected to buffering. Also re: the cost... So I have the least expensive Internet. If someone is watching Netflix in one room and I am trying to listening to Tidal, or any other streaming service for that matter, I'm buffering every 5 minutes it seems. It sucks. So really tidal costs 10.00 +whatever your wifi bill is.

Boo hiss.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

No it isn't. They have 3 million members paying at least $10 per month. They're turning over AT LEAST $30 million a month. Apparently 1.3 million members are paying for the HiFi version at $20 a month. Tidal will be fine.

Not to mention upon Prince's death anyone who wanted his music went out and bought his CDs.

I don't have any issues with the sound. Infact Prince's SOTT sounds 10 times better than it EVER has on CD. I can jump from SOTT (very quiet CD) to TGE (very loud CD) without having to touch the volume.

As for you internet connection... well that seems like the weak point in your setup. Occationally I hit play and have to wait a couple of seconds before the track will play. This is however true of every streaming service.
