What's your favorite currently circulating concert?

Of course, no links!

We all know there's a lot out there.

What's your favorite?

Frankly, I've listened to a lot lately and I don't even know which ones I listened to.

Small club. Nothing compares. It has Prince's humor, many spectacular guitar solos, incredible ballads, pulsating instrumentals, a Hawaiian impression, Sheila E. fucking up the lyrics, playing a song "in the dark" -- where the band had no idea what Prince was playing. Boni Boyer. BONI BOYER.

Prince at his absolute best.

That was the first boot I ever bought; back then a short version of it was called Nightclubbing.

That was 80something I bought that at the wrecka stow.

Later I got the full funk.

But all this stuff that's just come on now, filmed and all, what of that is your favorite? Is Small Club filmed too?

I saw the automatic video for the first time believe it or not, the full version....HOT DAMN!!!! eek

Do you think MJ watched this and decided to make a G rated version of the first part of it with his Bad Pepsi commercial? lol I would have taken this over that mickey mouse ad if I knew the video and not only the song years ago

Just saw lovesexy in germany, the parts I missed few years ago when it was temporarily online. Alphabet street is the shit! It was nice seeing I would die 4 u at the 85 sycrause show, the music video version was one of my first prince memories ever and I felt really emotional. Also watched 1999, so ahead of it's time for 1983, I feel everyone copied this show since including certain favourites.

My current favorite is the 2013 Detroit Fox Theatre show - Soundboard, and sounds so good

My overall favorites are the Nagoya & Sapporo shows from the Lovesexy tour.

The August 1983 1st Avenue show solely for its historic significance.

Not a boot, but the SOTT movie is my favorite live show of all time.

I love reading all these responses. I haven't heard majority of them so I can't wait to find them and give a listen. I just discovered the 1984 Birthday show (don't laugh pout lol), I never really knew about whole bootleg world or how to find any of this since I'm on younger side of his fanbase. Can't wait to give these a listen though smile

If you want to really get into it, then a huge world of wonders awaits u. There are so many concerts, rehearsals, outtakes, etc and so many of them are just stellar...heck a slammin.

I've just listened to the acoustic guitar show from A Celebration, June 24th 2002 for the first time in a very long time and really enjoyed the intimacy.

The electric 'power trio' show from the following day is also good, but my version ends a bit weakly with the 12 min 'Sex machine' blues jam. According to Princevault that show had four more songs ending with Calhoun Square...

cool Montreux soundboards '09 & '13. Just so much to listen to.

.

3EG Louisville. Really great show from Hannah's home town.

.

Nice (as in France) soundboard from 2010. - A straight forward set list of songs, but they all get a good amount of time.

.

I've listened to these a lot lately.

Favourite must be Small Club and all the shows I attended. I have few others I didn't attend, but that's about it. In that category I am hooked to Montreux 2009. What a great and different show! Out takes I do have. The amount of live recordings always confused me so to speak. It was too much, but I am making up for that. My computer has been making quite some overtime the last two weeks. wink

This.

that show created a media buzz, that helped to propel his ascent into mainstream stardom... music critics from the major New York papers and national journalists, were gushing about him after the performance...he was never not famous, again...

Good luck. Most of them are already missing from YT. Someone on YT said the folks from prince.org were reporting them and getting them taken down πŸ˜• I watched what I could. And i am more than willing to buy and own them legit but how does one do that? It still irks me that Prince was/is so unwilling to share stuff w/his fans, or makes it extremely difficult for the fans to buy this work of his. Back to the original question: I loved the rehearsal shows a lot that they would do in preparation for touring. Especially the one from First Av in the early 80's billed as a benefit concert. So raw, energetic, intimite. It was Wendy's first show with the revolution after Dez left.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN
