"I didn't call for no horns!"

I remember hearing this on a raw track, something from the vault...then somebody came in with the drums and Prince says, "I didn't call for that either!" I am trying to remember what song it was. Anybody? It made me giggle. smile

Love it. Funk frontman at his cockiest: not just directing the band, but so skilled that he can pretend he has no control over the situation. Even cues Susan to fade them out. Too bad he didn't do this on a finished, released track.

I believe the vocals on Databank are overdubbed onto an existing band instrumental - as you can hear the actual live prince directing the band at points in the song (you have to listen hard!). Still clever how he points out the errors with the band etc! "We just gonna jam or what?"

The funniest to me is the Still Would Atand All Time performance when he says "who's the fool singing will, it's would!" lol

The vocals of him complaining about the band on the studio version of Databank are part of the skit, comedy bit about losing control of his band. Overdubbed as part of the vocal.

I wish this had been a b-side track instead of some of the club beat remixes that started happening with SOTT onwards.

Agree with above post: WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T HE RELEASE STUFF LIKE THIS ON B-side 12" rather than stupid remixes. I suppose the was saving this for the Time!
But stuff like Soul Psychadelicide would of been perfect as a long player b-side!
