Just not someone you would expect.

What about Nick Clegg?

Him too.

How about a collective?

The purple nebula they dedicated to him.
Baby, you're a star.

What about Nick Clegg?

i remember standing in a queue to see 3rdEyeGirl with Bill Oddie right in front of me, on his own, standing in line patiently. A proper fan.

As for Nick Clegg, apparently he took a gap year to hang around Minneapolis to be close to Prince. The other week, he was scheduled to be on a live interview and apparently thought he was going to talk about Prince. Sadly he was grilled about the EU referendum, to his obvious discomfort.

Both real fans.

yet I don't know in what way Prince has influenced her.

I don't see any Prince influence on her.

.

Why do you assume that to be influenced by someone you have to sound like that someone?

.

Yeah, her music may not be influenced by Prince's funk or rock or soul ballads; but maybe her drive to be eclectic and her drive to be not like everyone else is where Prince's influence lies.

.

You know Prince mentions Joni Mitchell as a main influence. Does Prince music sound like Joni Mitchell? I must have misssed her raunchy kick-ass funk phase.

I'm a massive Oasis fan and was absolutely surprised to see Noel dedicate Live Forever to Prince at a recent solo gig. He also recorded his first solo album at the same studio as Sign O' The Times and giddily recalled how he felt standing in the same spot where Prince would have recorded his vocals. For all of his obsession with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Neil Young, Noel's love of Prince truly surprises and elates me.

David Gilmour. Both rock icons, both "guitar gods..." but their output, their fanbases, and the stations playing their music seem to part ways. I've never heard anyone from Pink Floyd mention Prince or Prince mention Floyd, but I might be calling up that tribute to settle pub arguments for years to come.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people respected his music and enjoyed his music, but because of the way he conducted himself as a businessman they weren't seen to be supporting him in life. Now it's just about the music (the way Prince always wanted, in a way).

Noel was at the last UK gig too. I saw him outside. With his car driver. Rita Ora was at the gig too as I saw her on the balcony and in the MacDonald's at Kings Cross afterwards.

Icke admits to not being a music lover. He loved Prince as a fellow celebrity conspiracy-theorist. Which, sadly, is what he was. Icke was interviewed on the BBC just a few days ago. He confirmed once more that he believes the Queen is a giant lizard wearing a human disguise. I wonder if other recently-outed Prince fan Helen Mirren played her with that in mind.

.

Yeah David Icke is ... peculiar ... I was surprised, although I shouldn't have been, to hear that Prince had read his books.

Nononooo... Noel Galagher knows his classics. No surprise there. The "Live Forever" dedication at the concert did bring tears to my eyes. Beautiful.

I watched that. He seemed to be coming accross ok talking about Brexit etc, and then Andrew Neill asked him if he still believeed the queen was a lizard. "Yes I do".... Oh dear. And then he wanted a full on debate with Portillo who called conspiracy theorists intellectually lazy.

With so many 'celebrities' paying tribute to Prince and his massive contribution to music and culture in general, which person has turned out to be the most surprising fan of Prince (musician or otherwise)? For me it was Axl Rose as I thought he dissed P at Rock in Rio in the early 90s

What did Axl say or do to say he was a Prince fan?
