Hi Y'all,

U know I only come on here when I have sumthin' ta say...So Let me make myself VERY CLEAR! I nor my brother's remains will be present at any Memorial or Funeral services, until the families Memorial/Funeral/Tribute.

Please Don't misunderstand...The grief process is a unique experience to each individual and Therefore I support any and all Memorials or Funerals that have happened and/or are being planned...However I will Not be in attendance, because I feel that once…is enough.

My brother was a Very Private man and so a Funeral had been planned for Saturday April 23rd. But on the evening of Friday April 22nd while we were in the process of inviting a small group of family and friends, those Funeral plans had to be sadly aborted. With the help of the Paisley Park staff (because some friends had already flown into town) we held an intimate gathering due to that cancelation, however it was Not a Funeral.

Also because there are reports floating around…I unfortunately want to address this issue:

To my knowledge…No One in my family has fought about anything, and least of all me…but I must admit I think it's funny that I’m the one they say, "Stormed out..." or that “We are at war” Me? Us? “Really? Where was I when all that happened?”

Matthew 12:25 says that "Every city or household divided against itself will Not Stand. "and because All of US were raised in the cherch, we know This All 2 Well...so Please don’t believe everything u read or get it twisted...We will…“Let Patience Have Its Perfect Work” James 1:4…and remain United!

So with All of that being said…

Once again I AM Releasing this statement for Those of U Who Would like to Celebrate Our Prince together with his family and have the opportunity to say farewell...
“We would like everyone to know that, contrary to previous and current reports, there has been no memorial, funeral or tribute service for Prince that was organized or authorized by the family or Paisley Park representatives. Together, the family is planning an official memorial service and public event to take place in the near future. Prince and his music influenced so many people that we feel inspired to celebrate his life and legacy in just the right way. We appreciate the public’s patience and have been comforted by your outpouring of love, support and condolences. We look forward to sharing with the world this celebration of, and farewell to, our Prince. Details will be coming soon.”

Update: The proposed plan is to have our Memorial/Funeral/Tribute in August more updates soon...

To GOD Be The Glory!

I don't understand why anyone has a problem with the intimate... Let's call it, gathering, on Saturday. Why do people need a "funeral"- did people really want to view a dead Prince? (Sorry I hate saying it too) I'm guessing the amount of time he was gone already would have made any viewing unbearable anyway. I'm cool with there having been no big deal like that. I feel really bad she's been put in a place to defend that.

The thing they are planning for August should be an amazing dance party. Music, good food, fun. A parade, not a funeral procession.

He only wants to see us laughing in the purple rain... If they can pull off actual purple rain, that would be the most awesome thing ever.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

I get where she's coming from as his sister, but at the same time, I wish there wasn't this divisiveness amongst some of his blood relatives and his friends, with these memorials. Prince was SO loved and meant the world to ALL of these people, so it would be wonderful if everyone on both sdes could put aside whatever differences, and come together for him without all this fuss.

In my heart, I know you're somewhere laughing in the purple rain...

The thing is, NOWHERE in Tykas' Facebook posting does this indicate that the Nelsons are the Jacksons Mk 2!! The Jacksons are still at loggerheads over Michaels money and Estate 9 years after his death!! The Nelsons seems to be handling this as mature adults!!!

They seem to be trying to take EVERYONE into consideration, the family, the community, Princes famous friends, his religion and even the fans!!

Honestly, I feel the remark about "I support any and all Memorials or Funerals", followed up by no event being "authorized by the family or Paisley Park" is just a little contradictory and unnecessary.

I'm glad that she chimed in and it sounds like the family and her have things under control, considering the circumstances. I was a little surprised that they are waiting until August to do the tribute, but I guess it makes sense because it would have to be in the new stadium that they are building and it won't open until the end of July. I hope that new music from Prince is part of the celebration plans. I'm certain that he had an album that was meant to be released upon his death in the vault.

So where does this leave this proposed Jehovahs Witness funeral/memorial slated for this Sunday then?? Will this still go ahead??

Thank you Tyka Nelson for setting the record straight. And I agree with her. Once is enough. I could not imagine being expected to sit through multiple services, remembrances, etc... for someone that i was incredibly close to or a relative. Once is enough, especially so soon.

I think she's just trying to keep thing clear. She supports them and she's ok with them happening, but they're not the official one. Let's not be too hard on her. She's not a pro PR person.

I think they are wise to wait s bit. Let all this mess from the investigation and stuff be over with and out the way. Then by gosh, let's all have a huge party and celebrate that amazing man's brilliance and his life with nothing but love!!!!

.

Yes, I thought the same thing..

.

I respect she wants everything private, but we were/are his extended family as well.

.

I guess the passage of time will sort it all out. Sadly, all we have is time.

.

Empty time.

I'm sorry but I don't think it's her place to say which ones are "authorized" and which ones aren't. All she had to do was say they will have one for the fans in August and leave it at that. Mayte, the mother of his son, and Mani didn't need her permission, her "ok", or approval to have a private memorial and it's not any more/less "official" because Tyka signs off or whatever... Omar was even at the memorial, lots of close friends were there... more than the memorial at PP just days after his passing.

She explains that the funeral had to be aborted but since people had flown in they had a gathering anyway, but this was not a funeral. It looks like he was cremated without a funeral which will officially take place in August. This may be according to Prince's wishes or because of the investigation, we don't know. I hope it's televised because not all of us can make it to Minneapolis.

It's going to be very hard to watch sad
I like how she says "our prince" because he was.

If Prince was still married to mayte or Mani yes it would be official, but he wasn't. Tyka is his next of kin legally so she has every right to organise an official funeral. I don't think she's trying to alienate anyone but just saying there will only be ONE official memorial for friends and family soon.

BTW. .the private memorial with wall to wall celebrities, what about the fans? They didn't get a second thought at this memorial. So for me this was a held by celebrities for celebrities and that's it.

You're reading way too much into this. The quote where she uses the word "authorized" was an official statement released a week or so ago, and I think the point of that statement was soley to say that the gathering they did on the Friday afterward, that had been reported by the stupid media as the official memorial service, was simply a gathering that happened, but it wasn't the family's actual plan for a memorial... I think in response to concerns that maybe that was all they were going to do. That statement was released before any other memorials or gathering had even started taking shape. As she says, she supports all gatherings and acknowledges that everyone grieves in different ways...

Thank you. As a member of the estate she has every right to use the word authorized or official or whatever. Stop reading so deeply into things. Authorized meaning sanctioned and signed off on by the estate.

Hi all, 2 things:

- I appreciate Tyka's fb post. How difficult her life must be right now ... I'm hopeful to hear the family is united.

- Perhaps the Aug memorial is related to this:

Hmm I'm not buying it wasn't the official family funeral. They had funeral type flowers in big pots that they brought out and handed to the fans that were around.

To me it sounds like "fans" are giving her shit because the fans haven't had a way to pay respects but that's not even true. There have been tributes and memorials all over the place. Several clubs where I live had Prince parties etc.

Tyka, if you're reading this THROW A PURPLE PARTY !! Not a funeral. You already did that and those of us who are reasonable understand that.

What she meant was none of those Funerals are from her.

You mistake unauthorized for forbidden. She's saying they aren't forbidden none of these ate "the one" memorial put on by the family. That is all.

Its because of hurt feelings. And she seems to be getting the blame. It seems like each group is going out doing their own thing. The first gathering and cremation,The LA one with ex wives, june one with spike.official with family, friends and fans.To me it seems like no one wants to be left out so everyone is doing their own thing.I bet because her and sheila are such good friends she needed to again say something because everyone was asking why she wasn't there at the LA one. These things take money and once that opens up which is august because august is the 4 month mark.
