Prince songs with death in the lyrics

i've been a major Prince fan since 1982 and it wasnt until his death that i started to notice how so many of his songs mention death or dieing especially the early songs....what was his fascination with death at such an early age?

I've noticed that too. I believe that, like me, Prince was always looking beneath the surface to find answers to the big questions in life. Of course one of the biggest questions a human being can ask is, what, if anything, lies beyond death? Perhaps he had reconciled that question by the end of his career, so it manifested differently in his latter work.

It is said that when he was very young, around 7 he had said that he saw an Angel. "The angels they watch me in wonder" (Solo - Come)

.

He was also all about love, from all its angles. Love is God and God is Love (Lovesexy). God has always had to do about life and death, death maybe being God. All intellectuals of the centuries have pondered the purpose of life, i.e. life vs death so seems natural that an artist like Prince would explore the same path.

.

But I wonder exactly how many lyric lines in total there are: It's not only about death but the afterworld and life after life he sang about

.

Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war.... Parade

Some people wanna die so they can be free ... Controversy

In France a skinny man died of a big disease with a little name... SOTT

That sweet wind was you... spirits come and spirits go... The Truth

I would die 4 U ... Purple Rain

Things are much harder than the afterworld .... Purple Rain

I know there is a Heaven and a Hell ... Lovesexy

Give me the electric chair for all my future crimes .... Batman

So what if we're controlling all the oil, is it worth a child dying for .... D&P

One day all 7 will die .... Symbol

If I came back as a Dolphin .... The Gold Experience

As sure as the candle burn every soul must return into the light ... C&D

Precious is the baby.... who tells him that his saviour is coming soon ... Emancipation

I wanna die and come back as one of your tears .. The Truth

Yours was the potion that I was supposed to die for ... - The Truth

If your last December came what would you do .... The Rainbow Children

It's nice 2 no, when bodies wear out, we can get another one .... Musicology

What if another universe complete with sun and moon .... Lotusflow3r

So many reasons why i don't belong here, find my way back home.... AOA

In a place that does not require time .... HitnRun I

1000 light years away from here ... HitnRun II

I'm sure other posters know more.

That's great and all but Prince didn't write the lyrics for Solo.

Two songs that follow on after each other on The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale:

My Little Pill

All my cares and troubles dive right off my window sill
Everytime I pop my little pill

There is Lonely

Is it me or did the room just get darker'
Is it me or did I just lay down and die'

Some of this is simply because Prince was so incredibly prolific. He covered a lot of subjects in great detail with a catalog of such size. He undoubtedly focused on mortality and spirituality more than most artists, but he also had a body of work that warranted many subjects and themes.

(Insert something clever here)

Well, pretty much all of "1999," including:

"2,000 zero zero party over, oops! Out of time!" and "But life is just a party And parties weren't meant to last.War is all around us, My mind says 'Prepare to fight.'So if I gotta die, I'm gonna listen to my body tonight" and "Everybody's got a bomb, We could all die any day. But before I let that happen, I'll dance my life away."

Also, let's not forget about "The Cross." All of it. "Adore": Be with me darling till the end of time (until the end of time)
I'll give you my heart
I'll give you my mind
I'll give you my body (until the end of time)
I'll give you my time (until the end of time)

"Head":Head
Love you til you're dead
