There's an interesting article that showed up online from a blogger that Prince apparently either hired or invited to write over the course of about a year and a half. It's an excerpt from a book that's upcoming, from what I can tell...? This is cool as it talks about Prince's last night before he died https://docs.google.com/d...zCALaM/pub

eek So he did think about his past, Mayte and his son. I bet he did not want to be friends because it hurt too much.

No clue. I saw the link on a group in facebook, no real details. Can't find anything about an upcoming book with the name on amazon or anything either.

WHOAH. eek

But he was writing the book with somebody else, wasn't he?

Man... I've got The Art of Racing in the Rain sitting right here on my shelf - my dad kept pushing it on me, but I never bothered 'cause I also thought the title was kinda dumb.

I'm gonna start reading it tonight... eek

That litte excerpt, if legit, is one of the most interesting and most personal Prince related texts I´ve read in a long time....especially the part about him opening up about his grieving process and how the Rainbow Children was his eulogy for his son.

And those eerie hints of him wanting to teach his son how to play basketball and how he says it in the present tense, or how he admits that he started believing in time again.

It´s strange that this has not been discussed on this website before.

This does not look like the biography he talked about but like a whole different book.

Sounds very interesting so far.

Of course it could be a fake by a fan but it is indeed interesting. The memoirs he was writing was with Dan Piepenbring so I'm curious who MJC is.

One thing that makes me doubt its validity is the section about how he said his dad was tall etc. I'm sure I read that he wasn't tall at all...? It makes me think it's a nice piece of fanfiction? Although I would be glad to be proven wrong, as it could provide some fascinating insight into Prince's persona.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Everything in it is known to fans and I don't think he's ever mentioned or acknowledged his son so I'd be surprised. But I'd also love to be wrong and it be from an upcoming legit book

Can this thread be stickied? I know there is already a Prince tribute/articles thread, but this one is kind of different. It can be specifically for collaborator/employee interviews and stories. It could turn into a great resource.

I definitely agree, one silver lining to shittiness of the past two weeks has been the chance to hear these incredible stories from past associates, and I think it would be great to have a thread that collects them all together. I really enjoyed the interview John Blackwell gave to a radio station, he had some fantastic stories, does anyone know if that's online? I've got an offline copy but I realise that's not that helpful sad

Was that the one where John Blackwell told the story of when Prince got him a lettuce Subway sandwich? lol Think this might be it? http://www.theboneonline....ll/vDqh5W/

This "blog post" by MJC really is a tricky one

On the one hand the writing is good and there is clearly a relationship of some kind there - so you can see why Prince could have chosen him

However, it is almost "too" well written with hints at secrets to be revealed and "exclusive" revelations

I really do hope it is true and a book gives us an insight into the last year or so - but my "spidey senses" are tingling...

Yeah...it really isn't. The dialog isn't too bad, but the rest of it's awfully purple.

Another vote here for this being fan fiction. An interesting and rather touching read, but still...I'm not buying that it's genuine.

.

The author sure has a great memory for remembering quotes. (unless somewhere it was specifically stated the dialogue was paraphrased, and I've forgotten). The most serious, deep and important conversations I've ever had in my life I remember a few direct quotes from, yes...but not entire complete sentences and back-and-forth exchanges.

.

If this turns out to be legitimate, my apologies to the author. But at this point I'm calling it a fake.

Do you know since when it was available?

I must say I agree with the ones who say this is probably the most interesting thing about him ever written. At least to me sounds more true than ANYTHING I have ever read about Prince. We'll see...

i can't see him divulging this stuff, unless it comes out that he had a terminal dx and knew he was dying.

otherwise, i'll take fan fiction for 500, alex....

Temporarily (?) reverting back to Shamelessmaya's recounting of her time with Prince, I found a snazzy photo of Prince wearing the wedge, thong platform flip-flops with white "pantyhose"! lol lol

The John Blackwell interview was hilarious. I almost fell over laughing when he spoke about them going to Subway. He really valued his time with P...John was treated very well.
