I'm upset I didn't get to see him one more time --anyone else?

Hey Org

Trying to get into posting here again since I don't have any other fams as friends (This is an alcohol fueled ramble, please lock if not appropriate).

I think I'm a young fan. I JUST turned 25. Became a fan when I was about 14 or 15.

Saw him live in 2011 for my 20th,

I was SO sure I was going to see him live again.

And the reason I'm mad is because I'm in grad school right now and all the other Grad Schools I applied to where in DC, Baltimore or Atlanta...all places that he'd had concerts in or around recently.

And here I am at my LAST CHOICE at a school I never wanted to go to (pigeon holed because of money, long story), in the middle of nowhere....nowhere near a concert...nowehere near ANYTHING...I could have seen him if I went to GSU, or Clark Atlanta or Howard of Morgan State or one of the schools I actually wanted to go to....

I guess I feel like I'm missing out being where I am...what else am I missing out on?

I'm onyl 25 y'all, I didn't get to see him multiple times like a lot of you did. I was born in 91 - the hey dey was over.

Anyone else looking forward to their "next concert?" I am. Because I keep forgetting.

Edit: So many typos...sorry, I'm drunk Y'all. Guess what? I'm graduating with a MA in English in a week and I still can't spell lol lol

one thing those of us who went to the last concert can always wonder is, "how much did performing this show affect prince's health?" we all had a chance to get a refund for the resceduled show, but i assumed if he resceduled that he was feeling better. It was his choice, and i hope that the love from the fans was if anything a help to his health at that show, but ijs at least you can know 4 sure that u were free from affecting prince's health that night, whereas we can only wonder what would be different if he had stayed home. ijs.

I need to be more thankful that I actually DID get to see him.

Strangely, I really can't remember the concert. I just remember that it was good.

This.

I feel guilty for the one I even DID go to. In 2011. Because I understand that's when his pain started.

That seems to be what he wanted, though. Looking at old interviews, he always talks about how more comfortable he was on stage or in the studio. He GAVE himself to performing. And became as fleeting as the sounds he created.

I feel like I was a lonely kid who grew into a lonely adult. But he was a constant. A constant weird Black kid who told me it was okay. I'm still going through it with losing him.

Thank you to those of you who have replied to this.

Funny that you posted this. I just got the nerve to play his final show, listening to it right now and I'm in tears. My biggest regret in life is not seeing him last month in Oakland. I had to pass it up because I simply couldn't afford to pay that much at one time (saving for a trip to Europe). Now of course in retrospect, I would've paid any amount had I known it would be my last chance. I feel like such an idiot, like why didn't I just put it on my credit card ya know? Europe will always be there, but Prince? I have seen him twice, so I'm trying to be grateful but it hurts so much. Especially being on the younger side of his fan base (I'm 26 as well), I didn't get to see him 20+ times growing up. I should've taken every damn opportunity I had. Sorry to vent, but thank you for posting this when you did. I'm a blubbering mess now listening to this.

I consider myself blessed to have seen him 7 times. What a number to end on! Number 8 would've been piano and mic in the uk but thanks to Isis and ticketmaster the shows were pulled. Looking back maybe there was more to it than that, think he may have been having second thoughts and got a convenient reason other than ticketmaster.

I saw him as many times as I did. Things r as they are and not as they should be. Big loves and hugs purple family. Xoxo

Very Upset. I tried to get tix to the Paisley Park opening show for Piano & A Microphone in Late January. I was checking his twitter like nuts, and I found the site where the TIX were available about 45 minutes after they went on sale - all sold out~I was pissed I wasnt notified as soon as they went on sale. sad

I saw him 3 times. In Germany when I was 23 in 1990. In 2011 in Belgium and then the concern in Arnhem Gelredome, I think 2013? If he had made it to Amsterdam as scheduled 4 Dec 2015 I might have missed it. Then Paris happened. One of my tweets to him was 'please if you come to A'dam don't come end April' sad I was out of the country. And he wasn't even here any more. Damn life sucks sometimes.

I'm upset I didn't see him at all. That's what troubled me the most. One of the biggest things I have on my "life to do list" will never be fulfilled. In 2013, I told my mother I wanted to go to the essence festival to see Prince. I came up with the whole trip and in January 2014 I found out I was pregnant. A junior in college and pregnant, so what did she do, she gave my ticket away. I was so upset but it's okay. Now she wants to say she was looking out for me because of all the walking and all the people around but that's BS. Then, when I found out he was coming to Atlanta it was too late to buy the ticket. This time, I had my own money and would have happily gone by myself but it was too late. Knowing that was his last concert, I felt horrible. I love watching and listening to all of his concerts through the years but I wanted to experience that live. I am happy that my mother called me from the Essence Festival when he was on stage and somehow left a voicemail on accident so I will always have that but I was suppose to be there. cry

I saw him twice- in Poland, at Opener Festival 2011 and in Denmark, at Smukfest 2013.

I never forget those performances. It was my most important dream to see him again.

The Arnhem concert was in 2010. And yes, it also makes me sad that we'll never be able to see him live again but I'm happy with the memories that I have. I was out of the country too when he did his last concert in Amsterdam. But let's look at the bright side: we made two other people very happy. wink

2016-02-21: Piano & A Microphone Tour, State Theatre, Sydney (10pm)

2016-02-25: Piano & A Microphone Tour, Perth Arena

So I cannot complain. The last one I flew from Brisbane to Perth just to see the final Aussie show. I was a bit annoyed with myself for wasting the money, but looking back, I'm so glad I did it now. Otherwise I think I may have felt regret that I didn't go. I feel so sorry for those who never got to see him.

That sounds stressful like you wanted your prince fix while being somewhere you didn't want to be so it makes sense. I've been a fan since about 86 though appreciated him more later on, and have been an orger for 10 years. I saw him in 2011 and find some solace in seeing him do his greatest hits rather than nothing at all. I was upset for a day I never made it to piano and a microphone cause I found out after the fact, and remember I wanted to go for musicology but was working long hours for summer and was to receive one big paycheque at the end so had no money. I'm a bigger MJ fan and was unhappy with things in my life when he passed and devastated I never saw him cause the London shows would Hsve been my first. I had chances to see him for other things in early 00s and didn't take them and regretted that so much for a long time, but now feel sorry he never got a break from fans or fame. They don't feel pain anymore or any of that, have to remind myself of that. What I'm trying to say is we're both so lucky we saw him before it was too late. I would have felt worse if I hadn't at all

At work, we joked about it...I needed to get some course or conference in Auckland so I could fly up and see him play.

I never imagined seeing Prince play in New Zealand...I'd hopped across to see him in Sydney in 2012 (work owed me at the time!)...and I always thought the next time I would see him would be in Aussie again.

The last tour caught me out. I couldn't get the time off work and I couldn't afford the costs.

I shrugged my shoulders, we made some jokes about it, and I resigned myself to seeing him on the next tour.

...

Funnily enough about a week after the Auckland show I was on a course...and ran into someone who's colleague had managed to get the time off and fly up to Auckland. This person had had the privilege of sitting a few feet from Prince as he played. An incredible memory.

As for me, I'll always treasure the Apollo gig from 2002, the Act II and Gold Experience shows at Wembley and the Sydney concert - my last concert...He played Mountains and I've never smiled wider.

Luckily I got to see him a bunch of times but I was always looking forward to the next time. The same was true that night as my wife and I walked out of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. We were already planning our next concert. I often wonder if we would have known it was our last time seeing him, would we have savored it more or would we have done anything different? I don't know if we would have but I am thankful to say I was there.

The one regret that I do have is that I couldn't share the experience with all of you here.

Disappointed not to get to see the piano and microphone tour. But have seen him live many times including his last public concert in the UK which was Leeds. So I haven't done to bad. Just still can't believe we are never going to see any more live performances.

Yes I am another person who never got to see him at all. I see I'm in good company. Not making it to the most recent Sydney shows is now one of my life regrets, and I don't have many. I had an important work event that totally clashed with the concerts and it was just literally, completely impossible to make it work. My only consolation is that bc I didn't go, someone else got a ticket and was able to have a wonderful experience and memory <3

I was so close to seeing him live for the first time. This year actually for the piano and a microphone tour. I was ready to pay and all, but when I looked at the dates I realised I couldn't go because I would be overseas. I live in Australia and Prince didn't come often so I was pretty bummed I couldn't see him over here. I thought there was always next time. I plan on travelling in the future and I set myself a little goal to drop by Minneapolis and visit Pasiley Park to catch him live. Even if it was just one time, at least just once I could've witnessed his talent live. It was a little dream of mine. I'm still absolutely devastated. sad

I'm with you on that.

.

I'm a relatively younger prince fan (28). I've loved him since I was 14, maybe even earlier than that. My mum died when I was 6 and I grew up pretty lonely. His music was the bolt of lightening my life needed at time when I thought there wasn't much to live for. For that I will be eternally indebted to him.

.

In 2007 I spontaneously flew from Sydney to London and saw him half a dozen times or so at the O2 arena. I was fortunate enough to catch a few aftershows in London which I'll never forget. I also saw him a couple of times when he came to Sydney in 2012. All in all about 10 times but there could have been so many more.

.

Regrettably I started to cool off Prince around 2008. I still loved his old music but was pretty uninspired by Planet Earth and I felt the live shows lacked some spark (the same old arrangements and I was getting pretty tired of the horns and back up singers). Life also got in the way and I couldn't devote as much of my time listening to him as I had before. I really wish I hung in there because, as I have discovered since his passing, Art Official Age was some of his best studio work since 3121, maybe even before that, and his live shows with 3EG were some of his most exciting in years. I've since come to live lotusflower as well.

.

Then came February 2016: Prince was to bring his Piano & Microphone show to Australia in a matter of weeks. I was eager to get tickets and I wanted to take my 16 year old niece to see him for the first time (I introduced her and all her friends to Prince). I logged-on to the ticket website early but it still took me about 2 hours to get through. When I finally did get through, the only tickets available were $450+. I then somehow convinced myself that this was too expensive. My husband and I are saving for our first home and I couldn't justify the expense. I said to my niece: don't worry, you'll have another chance to see him. I told her that her first Prince live experience should be with a band. Famous last words. Prince was to be dead in a matter of months and I am left filled with REGRET and GRIEF.

.

Prince, I am so sorry I took you for granted. I really thought we would have more time with you. If your passing has taught me anything, it has taught me to hold those I love a little closer and to never take them for granted. I promise to honour your memory and uphold your legacy as best I can. It still hurts like hell.

I feel good that I made it to the final shows in ATL, but I will always regret not staying on top of the January ticket situation at PP and going to that one. I regretted that the past few months.

.

And how had I not seen him in concert since 2004??? I just don't get that, although he really hasn't played the USA much since the Musicology Tour. I did see him live quite a few times in his prime, so I do feel very blessed and lucky to have been able to do that.

.

And I spent about $800 on tix or the two ATL shows and wasn't sure about that at first, but after the shows, I knew it was 100% worth it and of course now, there really is no doubt.

I wish I would have made a trip to see him at PP. Some many invites from the distant past when NPGMC was going. It would have been fun. I also never saw him live in a small club gig. I guess all I have now are the bootlegs.
