Hi I'm a new member & this is my 1st post...

Very pleased I was finally cleared to post. I've been a devoted Prince fan since I was 16. First song I ever heard of Prince's was on MTV in 1982 or so. It was "Little Red Corvette". Every thing about the track, fasinated me. From that moment on, my curious interest was peaked for Prince. Fast forward to 1984 to the opening of "Purple Rain". I was one of the lucky ones to get a ticket to see the film the first day it opened. From the minute the opening sequence began, with those icon words; "Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today, To get through this thing called "life"...

The butterflies in my stomach started to fly. Blackness on the screen fades & Prince appears, so sexy and so electric! I declared in that moment, I was officially part of Prince's Royal Purple Kingdom of fans from this day forward. And all these years later, that hasn't changed. While I am happy I have the chance to be part of this forum and to interact with other fans, it comes at the most tragic and devastating time. Its been an absolutely nightmare since the news unfolded on April 21th. My heart is truly in pain over the passing of our beautiful and noble Prince. I'm still numb over the news actually. Denial even. Then again, I'm sure I'm not the one fan grieving in a similar manner. Anyways, thx for taking the time to read my post. I look forward to reading and sharing thoughts as we continue to go through this process as one Purple fandom. Have a good evening Ƭ̵̬̊

Welcome! I made a post very similar to yours a few days ago. Though I'm sad it was Prince's passing that led me to rediscover my love for Prince, I am thankful for the org and the people here for the support and new discoveries of Prince's work. It is sad time, but an amazing time in many ways as well,0 thanks to his gifts and amazing body of work.

And I have to say, I know we are all still sad, but to be honest, I have read a lot of old posts on here from over the last 15 years actually, during different times of Prince's careers, highs and lows, and man, there are some clever and funny as hell posters here. I can tell that over the years it wasn't always easy being a Prince fan, but this community here at the Org found a way to have fun nonetheless. And many posts I have read have literally made me laugh out loud, and at times like now, we need to laugh despite the tears. Makes me wish I had been here all those years to truly enjoy the honesty and often humor of those here, but like I say, better late than never.

And thank you again to everyone here who has been so welcoming! Much appreciated.

Welcome, I share your pain. The last song I listened to before his death was The Holy River and I still can't listen again to that song. Every time I think about Prince or hear a song on the radio I get tears into my eyes and I am the kind of person that people say that never cries. To think of it I have been so sad I haven't been able to post here since April 21st. I haven't even been able to read all the great threads...too painful. But I have read some and it has helped me, and I am truly grateful for our community here. Thank you for your post and again, welcome smile

Good Morning from NJ! After what feels like weeks of rain (purple in mindset) I wake up to sunny skies and high of 70 degrees ahead. While I'm still grieving over our Prince, I take the sunny skies as a positive sign from above. I will head to class this morning with a warm feeling in my heart. It's still not easy to listen to Prince's music without crying, but today I will try to hold these feelings @ bay. My album of choice for my ride to class will be 1999. Now that I got that out, before I head out the door in a few minutes, I want to say this to my new purple family. Thank you so much to each and everyone of you for the warmest welcome. I'm so grateful to be accepted into this community during this tragic time for all of us. I may not have the time right now to reply to each direct post to me, I will later on this afternoon after I leave my college campus. I looking forward to joining the chat in & out of the chatroom. Have a blessed day ya'll smile

PS: Speaking of chatroom, what are the hours the chatroom is open so I can join in the purple discussions? Thx smile

Thx for the warm welcome, DJ2Sad. And from one fellow newbe to another let me welcome you to the site as well. Glad I'm not the only newbe in the pack lol. That said, I agree wholeheartedly with your post. While I kinda regret not seeking out Prince.org sooner, knowing bits and pieces of what went down behind Prince's purple veil throughout the years, here's a part of me thats happy I didn't give in to the temptation to be part of a purple community online during those times. I loved Prince so much. He was perfection to me in a lot of ways. I didn't want my opinion of him to change in the mist of his "atrist" chances if you will. In the end, I remember my inner voice speaking to me; "My purple ignorance is bliss." Glad I decided listen to my inner voice especially now. Anyways, glad to meet you. And I look forward to chatting with you further smile

Awe ZiggmanZoo so sorry to hear your purple tears continue to fall. I can totally relate to that. Mine continue to fall as well and thats more than ok. It's a process and that process needs to play out in its own time. Not one purple tear has fallen from my eyes today. However, the night is young. We'll see where the rest of the evening takes me. Glad I have this community to fall back on now. Thats an amazing thing. Anyhow, dinner calls. Nice to meet you again smile

Thx for the heads up, homesquid. Later tonight, (I'm off to watch Civil War after dinner), I most certainly will do that. I'm looking forward to sharing my Prince pics as well as see what others Prince works members enjoy. Btw I love your old school Marvin avatar. Marvin was truly one R&B greats. They don't his brand of R&B anymore. What a shame.
