You're the Estate - What do you release first?

All in the title. By all mean, specify when you'd release it as well.

The last show since Prince mentioned wanting to release it at Paisley.

Then announce reissue series with bonus tracks

Then set up a live series or archive

The estate should reach out to everyone involved with each project or era to begin to go on record about their experience while they are able even though the most important person involved is no longer here sad

Since it was the last project he announced, I'd release the live piano show as soon as possible. Then, approaching Christmas, I'd release a Purple Rain remaster with a bonus disc of unreleased material from that era. I'd also have a special edition of the PR remaster where, along with the bonus disc, you'd get the movie on blu ray, a live show from the Purple Rain tour and maybe Phase Three (assuming it was already completed).

Release the latest live show. If he mentioned it was coming, might as well drop that one, especially since that is HIS element.

FYI, drop Purple Rain remaster next. I doubt that any reissue (remaster) will outsell it, especially if it has a bonus disc of material.

If they really do these right, they will have casuals and noncasuals begging (and willing to pay for) for Parade and SOTT.

If "Live" or Purple Rain is blah and feels like a money grab, Prince will go back to being almost "underground" again.

There HAS been an awful lot of duplication of late, but that thread had nothing to do with what should be released first.

I would at first put out his last show. Then I would start a remastered series right from the beginning. Maybe from 1999 in a smaller version of the fanmade 1986 box set with b-sides, outtakes and live records and videos.

Let me just say as an avid fan of Tupac and with most of my idols being dead. you've picked the right person for the job. As I've spent many years watching in disbelief at the work of one of my greatest inspirations being ruined by those handling his projects. . . I've always wanted to handle a posthumous release. In fact, once beyond the recording aspects and delving into the production side of the project I even sometimes handle my own work as if it is a posthumous project

First of all . . a box set would be YEARS down the right. Kind of like you're just getting Elvis box sets with EVERYTHING now. You don't just throw it all in a box set right away and release it - not only is that not commercially viable but it would be a terrible way to handle his legacy

First order of business - We're launching Paisley Park Records - in tradition of Prince's business ethics we are not signing a deal at this time, we're going to strike while the iron is hot, right now there's no need for promotion. Call me a vulcher but it's for the betterment of Prince's legacy overall. We use traditional promotional methods and hire people that provide "label services". We sign a deal with Target to put out an exclusive version through them featuring a bonus track. In exchange we will charge them nothing but we're going to be getting great self-placement and store promotion, including a commercial. We are finally making a deal with Apple. The project will be released through iTunes, in exchange it's promoted through their newsletter and on the banner. The back catalog will not be available through iTunes (yet) but we also set a deal with Apple to launch a Beats 1 radio station for Prince on Apple Music. There Prince's backcatalog will be played

You're going to be looking at 2 albums within the next 18 months

The first one would be Hit N Run Phase 3 - whatever he was working on last. If that's not in a near completed state we are going to be compiling an album of his most recent works . . and putting them out now while they are recent. Inspiration comes from many sources and the ones behind these are likely to be most relevent now. If we can put put out Phase 3 . . GREAT! Phenemonal. It completes a trilogy and increases the sales of previous installments. If Phase 3 isn't near enough completion the album is going to be called

Free Ur Self - in typical Prince tradition each album will have a title track.

This release will coincide with a documentary. Bonus content will include the 50 pages that Prince completed for his memoir

The next project will dive deeper into the vault - back to the 80's - we're going to compile a project based on a specific time period . . as close to Purple Rain and the time preceding as possible.

Next we're going to release a full project

Now Prince's back catalog and streaming . . it will stay available via TIDAL, but no longer exclusively. We are going to launch Prince's very own streaming service. This will include all of the work that Prince has release and all of the work that he owns the rights to, so affiliated artists that he wrote for. Customers will have the option of paying $31.21 a year or $3 a month - the service will also include videos.

After this point we are going to assess the viability of physical music sales at this time . . they are declining every year so we may not need to allocate any resources for these kind of releases. If the buzz starts to die down we will sign a major 8 figure deal with a major label to distribute the work. This will be ONLY a distirbution deal. They will be entitled to 15% of the royalties. They will help promote the project and provide us with promotional outlets and label services from their in-tact connections

Oh yes . . we're going through his vault for film clips and media, interviews and we're going to have a bidding war among film studios for a theatrical release Tupac Resurrection style documentary. Fearing clips and footage with Prince narrating the film in his own voice

Also - negotiations begin with circus de soleill to make a Prince show. We license the rights to a Vegas casino for $400 million

Easily the first release should be a CD/BLU-RAY set with the last ever show.

Second release should be a definitive anthology set. All the singles in their original extended form.

Thirdly, all the albums remastered as 2 disc sets.

After that, as long as it's done respectfully, multi volumes of the Vault in year blocks.

The first release should without a doubt be the Atlanta show on CD.

But was it pro-shot? If so a CD and accompanying DVD/Blu-Ray would be the perfect release.

They should have a comprehensive singles and b-sides box set with DVD, reissue the entire back catalog as a limited box set, continue vinyl reissues.

It's something Joshua would have to answer as far as there being any finished albums over the past couple of years. He must be dealing with some "circle of life" issues with P's passing and Hannah's pregnancy at the same time...

Prince said he expected it to be released at some point. The vault has some very good stuff in it. Keep in mind how Prince operated. He might record 2 or 3 songs a day for weeks. And then have 100 songs and put 10 or so together that seemed to fit some over all theme... release them and shelve the others. But he did say in the last few years that it would be released someday by someone. That it was just too much.

So destroying them would be against his best known wishes. (if he wanted them gone he would have done what he did to (As far as anyone knows) to one and only one song ever... destroyed them himself.

I would do Purple Rain Remasterd but more in the vain of Sabotage's Purple Rush Series

Volume 1: The album remastered along with the film score

Volume 2: The outtakes

Volume 3: The Purple Rain tour (not to include shows that are already in circulation)

Something like that

If a man is considered guilty
For what goes on in his mind
Then give me the electric chair
For all my future crimes"
