Question About Songs Played On Sirius Tribute Channel

As you know, the Groove channel on Sirius has been giving us 24 hour Prince music. I recognize/have most of the tunes, except....

.

They have been playing a lot of these Jazz instrumentals and the title given over my radio is always just a number: "Twelve," "Fifteen," "Thirteen".... Where are these instrumental jazz tunes from? What album?

Those are from the various Madhouse albums.

Ah, thank you.

.

Don't own those...and I see that one of them is going for $1,500 on amazon so I don't think I will be buying. Interesting to hear, however. As I write this Sirius is playing "Fourteen." Rather than spend $1,500, I'll just keep listening to Sirius.

I was so surprised when I got in the car the other morning and heard those tracks. It was a refreshing change from the 9,000 times they've played Let's Go Crazy in the last week.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Were any Prince songs ever played on the Soul Town show on Sirius from the late Seventies?

No. Soul Town focuses on mostly 60s and 70s. They tend to consider Prince an 80s artist even though he had a few hits in 78/79.

They've also been playing unreleased stuff, which completely blows my mind. A friend heard his version of "100 MPH," tape hiss and all.

What unreleased stuff are you refering to? I've heard 100 mph also. It has been in their library for a while. Sirius has done a few Prince tributes over the years. They added 100 mph, Sex Shooter and a lot of material from the ONA Live cd.

It should be known, for anyone who does buy either of the Madhouse albums, do your research and beware of fakes.

Same friend who heard "100 MPH" also heard "Wonderful Ass." Are you saying they've been playing Prince's version of "100 MPH" for a while? That's *insane* that they could get away with it.

Very unlikely that it's selling on Amazon for $1500 or anywhere else. You could put the Purple Rain album on there and ask $10,000 for it but doesn't mean that's the market value.

.

But certainly other ways to get the Madhouse tracks for a lot less.

The ones listed that high aren't selling, but, both albums are getting anywhere from $50-$150 on CD & LP. Lots of counterfeit copies being sold as well...

Well that convinced me to get a free trial of Sirius. If they keep the channel forever, I'll subscribe in a heartbeat.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.
