International Lover -vs- Do Me Baby Two amazing balads from back to back albums before the Purple Rain frenzy. For reasons that I can't really explain they've always reminded me of each other. Kinda like companion pieces in my mind. Why does Do Me Baby get so much more attention? Which is your favorite of the two and why? | |

Hmm, I find do me baby more classic like adore or something. Like a traditional ballad maybe even like insatiable too. But international lover is more...strange and abstract. If I had to pick one favorite of the two, it would have to be Do Me, Baby. But both of these tunes are favorites of mine . They are similar in that they are both very powerful ballads about longing for love and sex. International lover is dirter, but Do me Bby is very sexual as well. The bass in both tracks are similar in style. Also, International Lover is in 6/8 while Do me baby is not, but I would argue Do me Baby's groove makes it feel almost like it could be in 6/8.

"Do Me, Baby" is more of a begging song. . "International Lover" has a certain swagger and braggadocio to it that makes it more appealing in many regards. But it's all apples and oranges. "  don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r." |

Both are sexy, sensual, vulnurable and hilarious all at the same time. His over the top vocals is what makes it better as a listening experience, than as the soundtrack to actual love making. He demands too much attention with these songs. But that's also what I love about Prince. I love both. But, I kinda lean towards "Do Me Baby", simply because Meli'sa Morgan did such an incredible job with the remake, it just kind of stands out for me a little more. International Lover without question. I travel frequently for business so I am on a plane at least once a week. Every time the flight crew goes over the safety precautions prior to take off I just smile and think of this song If a man is considered guilty

Do me baby was the first song I ever slowed danced too. I think was around 16 years old. It will always be a special song to me.

International Lover is too gimmicky (and a bit to 50s) for me. Do Me Baby is by far the better and a classic. |
