Do any of you feel this too?

I've seen a lot of people posting about the songs that have made them cry and lose it in the last few weeks and some weird experiences they have had. For me that song is Gold and every time I listen to it it's like a spiritual experience. And I'm not really spiritual or religious or anything. The other day when me and my friend was on our way back from watching Purple Rain at the theater I put in TGE and when we got to Gold we were listening to it and we've both been through some depressing stuff the last few weeks but when it hit the solo at about 5:20 in the song out of nowhere the biggest brightest sun appeared. It was so awesome. I had goosebumps. But as I've been listening to it on my own it's like whatever problem I'm going through or if I'm depressed.. It all goes away and it's like Prince is telling me everything will be okay through the song. As I was listening to it today I got this trembling feeling all over me that I haven't felt before. Very spiritual feeling. Maybe I need to start figuring things out in my life more. It's crazy guys.
I just thought I would share this ☺️

if his music can continue to support us and help us feel loved and understood, he will live on and our love for him will keep his spirit alive in our hearts.

Gold is such a fantastic and uplifting song. in fact, TGE is my favorite album (happened at the right time for me), and since that was the height of my fan experience, i am also a big fan of Come. i listened to Solo a few times late at night the weekend after his passing. it's just so gorgeous, a perfect example of what his voice was capable of, beautiful instrumentation...and it was expressive of EXACTLY how i was feeling, sitting alone, in the dark, trying to make sense of something devastating that would not make sense. crying.

i might be ready to listen to some of the brighter songs now (like Gold). i feel like a total idiot for putting off buying a new copy of TGE, Eye Hate U maxi, Beautiful Experience, Come, etc after i lost everything in a natural disaster several yers ago. maybe values will stabilize eventually and i can replace them one at a time. i even lost my prized silver prince pin from 1800newfunk and my Act I shirt. it was just stuff like everything else i lost (had to mentally let everything go) until i needed it again last week.

That is such a great view on it and exactly how I feel. He is with us all and always will be.

It's so cool hearing all of our different stories that we share on here. This site has helped me cope for the last 7 years, even when I was just a little kid that read everything but didn't post. Haha.

And it's always nice to talk to someone that says TGE is their favorite album as well. I'm a rather young fan, 17, but I became obsessed in 2009 when I heard Gett Off on the VH1 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s, and I had to get Diamonds and Pearls. I loved it and still do but not as much. But when I got my second Prince cd a few months later, TGE, I had never heard anything like it. It is and always will be my favorite P album. I remember seeing it at the game store that used to be in my town. It was used for $2. I was a happy 11 year old 😂

But yes those early-mid 90s releases like TGE, Come, Emancipation mean so much to me. I'm always so happy when someone else feels the same. smile

it was a great time to be a fan. but i suspect whenever any fan was in the right place at the right time was a great time.

ps - $2?!? i am so jealous, but 11-yr-old you managed to get your hands on it, so congrats! it came out just before my class trip in high school, so i listened to it the entire long bus ride there & back. sooo good. my music-sponge brain was putting me in a good mood that whole trip.

Thank you for sharing that. It was so great to read that this song made/makes you feel better, so I looked up the Gold video myself. But after hearing the first two words of the song, I started crying. I just cannot find comfort in his music. And now I have even come to a point where I'm starting to feel guilty for not grieving in the right way, since I can't listen to the music he dedicated his life to sad

I share your experience. I'm not religious, but I also feel a kind of spiritual connection to P's music. It's difficult to explain.

Not alone, this song does evoke that feeling for me too, its the right balance of anthem, celebratory and says everything is not what it seems, it isn't dark and it speaks of transcendence.
