I know I shouldn't say this but...

I can't believe Prince is dead and my bitch of a mother, who never helped or loved anyone, including herself, and never took care of anyone, inlcuding herself, is still alive. Does anyone else have those moments where they can't believe certain people in their lives, especially the ones who have brought nothing but pain, fear, abuse, neglect, etc...are still on earth, wasting resources, and yet this beautiful man who gave so much love (and yes, pain, I know he gave pain also) is gone? It's just so unfair! Really?! You couldn't have taken her and left Prince?! And if anyone wonders how I could say such a thing; you're lucky. You have no idea how lucky you are. Children don't feel this way about their parents for no reason.

I could say more but I'm just going to end it here. Again, I apoligize if I've offended anyone and I understand if this gets removed but I just had to share. But before I go I feel like I should post this also.

It's just the anger talking and it's probably a very intense feeling. Was Prince someone you listened to often when feeling upset with her at different points as a comfort?

Tragic. Search your soul for a way to forgive her and let it go so that it doesn't continue to eat you up inside. I think those would have been Prince's words to you....only a lot more poetic and punctuated by a year-long Watchtower subscription

Prince was someone I listened to a lot, period. My mother didn't like him. She thought he was "wierd" "strange" "why he gotta act like a woman" and everything else. I remember once she forced me to tell her about going to one of his concerts and then sniffed and said "well, i don't really like Prince no way" then why did you ask?!?!?! It's not just the anger talking. We've been estranged for years. I had to cut her out of my life. She was killing me.

I can't say that I know how you feel, because I don't. My mother or childhood wasn't perfect (but then again, who's was) but I loved her with all of my heart. I can't even fathom thinking that way about her that you do about your mother, but I also have not live your life with your mother. I pray that you find forgiveness in your heart and soul someday, it will be the only way that you will ever have peace in your life. I'm a Christian, and I follow God's word, "Forgive and ye shall be forgiven". I have had people in my life that have hurt and angered me too, I'm sure like many, and I have had to pray to God to soften my heart towards them and let me forgive them, and when he did, my life got a lot better, letting go all of the hate, hurt, and anger.

I understand. Life is so unfair sometimes. I hope you feel better after getting that out. It's a struggle to find something in all of this to make it feel better.

Honestly my mind has been everywhere that recently I was asking myself why my family's microwave can live past 28 years old (no shitting you, my mum bought my family's microwave in 1987 and it still works) but Prince couldn't live past 57. I've pondered a lot of stuff like this. It's only natural I think, and part of the grieving process.

Cliche or not...its real.

Thoughts like that only hurt you.

I'm not being judgemental cuz Lord knows I've thought some shit....just saying. I'm sure the feelings will fade with time though at bare minimum.

I know most of us loved Prince like an actual friend or even a family member, but please remember that outside of a few exceptions, he had no idea who we are and only related to us as fans.

He would probably lecture anyone who thought making a comparison between him and a relative was the thing to do.

Research indicates fans tend to have very personal feelings toward those they admire but when those personal impressions are put to the test -- such as meeting the actual object of their worship -- reality sets in: they are often disappointed by the experience and go back to admiring from afar and having those fantasies about a closeness that just isn't there.

The story about the JWes at the door being Prince sounds hilarious.

Although you've probably somewhere hoped or expected the answers...and dare I say 'cure'.... to the pain and suffering you've endured through the relationship with your mother to come from Prince, maybe it was his biggest rival who contained the answer all along. (cue in the sappiest and most melodramatic Michael Jackson song you can think of here)

Michael loved Deepak...and reading Deepak Chopra has taught me a lot about forgiveness and actually being able to apply it to whom and where I needed to in my life. It wasn't instantaneous...but it did relieve me of the burden of it and open up the channels in my life for true positivity and blessings to fill the void left by that 'precious' hatred and anger that I had held onto for so long and was convinced that it would be the worst kind of self betrayal of I ever let go

Sometimes our parents are not the people we want them to be. It can't have been easy for you. I hope as an adult you can move forward and find happiness, let go of the past and have the life you deserve.

You don't forgive for the other person. You forgive for yourself. Because hate and anger is a heavy feeling to carry

Feeling anger toward someone is like drinking poison and expecting it to effect the other person . . literally your body is being poisoned by an influx of hormones

Maybe you should listen to the words of your hero. (This is from an interview in Rolling Stone that came out this morning.)

It's past midnight when we begin talking again. He mentions a desire to mentor Chris Brown, says he invited him to Paisley Park. I note that some people think what Brown did to Rihanna was unforgivable. He's shocked. "Unforgivable?" he says. "Goodness. That's when we go check the master, Christ. ... Have you ever instantly forgiven somebody?" I shake my head. "It's the best feeling in the world, and it totally dismantles that person's whole stance."

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

This made me smile, but since my parents died, I have often thought this about some of their possessions...how can some ornament they bought in the 1960's still be here when they are gone for eg. And actually since's Prince's death, I have found myself looking at some celebrities I dislike and wishing they had died and not Prince (wrong on a number of levels probably).

I'm sorry for your suffering, isobelfq.

And he was right, because if Jesus could ask His Father God to forgive those who were crucifying him, who are we that we can't forgive someone that has hurt us someway?

Trust me, I completely understand how you feel. With people like that it is best to just cut them out of your life, but that situation is much harder when it involves a family member (I too have been in a situation like this) - but some people are so poisonous that it needs to be done if all else fails.

About the 'Why Prince but not them?' feeling - my immediate thought when I heard the news was "How did the Queen turn 90 today but Prince died at 57?" In that grief-stricken moment it didn't seem right. Although, I'm pretty sure Prince died on the Queen's birthday just to upstage the her and show everyone who the TRUE royalty was lol
